did you follow up with your primary care physican?
I already knew about my high blood pressure, and I have that under control. I have not had a blood test for diabetes nor lipids over a year. I was just diagnosed w/ PCOS in April/may.
Should I consult with my OB/GYN before calling my primary care doctor?
well u need to discus it with ur PCD as any one treating u needs to discus it with u

Helps to have both primary and GYN in the loop. One make think of a way to help that the other doesn't. Your primary will probably be more concerned with high BP, heart disease, diabetes, etc., while your GYN will be more focused on fertility and reproductive organ health.

I agree your GP needs to know, but some docs don't consider PCOS anything they need to know about. I currently don't have a GP, but I see my GYN each year.
After I was diagnosed I informed my Primary Doctor, the reason I did so is because you may have to go see them for other things and they could be related to PCOS. When I told him about my diagnoses he set me up with more blood work, and made recommendations on how to lose weight, etc.

My specialist could/can be my primary also, but she lives an hour from me so I continue with my primary. I switched so in October, my new Doctor will determine how often she wants to see me.

My PCOS doctor became my primary care doctor. I am really lucky to be near and working for The PCOS Center which is a multidisciplinary practice for women with PCOS. They handle everything from OBGYN, GP and endocrine to nutrition and exercise physiology. It is pretty cool.
In any case whether your GP is part of a mutliple disciplinary practice or seperate, it is important that they are all able to communicate with regards to your care, PCOS needs to be recognized and treated with a full body approach with all the disciplines complimenting each other in your care.
All the Best,
Ashley
