Ok so I am having an issue taking my metaformin. I start taking it then for some reason i just stop. I dont know if its a mental thing or what but i know that in order to get better i have to take them. So whats my problem? Why do i start taking them then just fall off? I just started taking them again I am on day 3 and im hoping that i can keep on them. The side effects are bad but I can handle them. So I am not sure what else to do.

I thought i should also mention that the last time i was on it regularly i took met for about a year and went from 224 pounds down too 165 pounds and fit into a size 13.
Now im almost back to my high weight again. So knowing how much met helped me before i shouldnt be so hesitant to take it regularly.

Well I know where you are coming from... I have never taken met for more than 2 weeks... I start taking it any even though the symptoms are not that bad I worry myself to death about the side effects that are very rare but still I just stop taking it. I started taking it again about a week ago and was on it for 3 days and the 2nd day my kidneys were hurting like I had a kidney infection and I just didnt feel right and I just had this feeling in my gut to stop taking it so I did. So I dont know if I will ever try and start again. I just joined a gym and I am trying to drop weight by just eating less and exercising and hopefully that will stabilize the PCOS symptoms some. But I wanted to tell you keep on the Met if you can handle it and I think you will feel lots better!! Keep it up girl

You went from 224 lbs. to 165 lbs.? Wow! That's amazing.
I know this might be difficult to pinpoint but do you think it was the metformin that helped you lose weight? Or on a hardcore exercise routine?

I was prescribed Met last Oct./Nov. and was so eager for it to work and for me to get my AF that I upped my dosage too quickly. The side effects got really bad, and I felt so bad that I stopped taking it. I gave myself a break through the holidays, and started again on the 5th of Jan. I am taking 1000 mgs once a day, but I plan to up it to 1500 mgs tomorrow (approved by my doctor.)

My second time around starting Met, the side effects have been very rare and minimal.
I make sure to drink lots of water before I take the pills and to take it in between a heavier meal. So far, so good.

I am more determined now to stick with it and get an AF (or even better, a BFP). I think my little break off of Met really helped me get my head on straight and motivate me to keep ttc with the help of Met.
