The same thing happened to me. But, at first, I thought it was just the fact that the bottle had changed. I too, got mine at Wal-Mart and I honestly like Metformin ER, better than Metformin HCL ER anyway. (They both do the same thing.)So, I decided to just take them and now that I have been taking Metformin ER, for about a month, I've noticed that I'm not tired anymore! In my case, I do seem to have less side effects. But, everyone is different. So, who knows with your case?
And if you're that concerned, this is what I'd do: I'd call my doctor and explain what happened. I'd see what he/she thinks about it and if he/she thinks it's best for me to be on Metformin HCL ER, than I'd suggest that once I'm able to locate a pharmacy, in D.C., than I'd call him/her back and give them the pharmacy number. That way, the doctor could just call in for the prescription and I could pick it up.
Thanks Keebie. I feel a bit better.. maybe it's just the kind walmart carries?? I'm just so paranoid anymore because everytime I screw with dosages and whatnot I get soo sick. And I really want to enjoy my time in DC, not be in the bathroom all day dieing.
I guess that's why I've shyed away from walmarts pharmacy (Plus when i called there to complain that I didn't get enough pills the lady was rude). My regular pharmacy would take the time to explain everything to me :-/ But, a 15 dollar co-pay vs 4.50 at walmart for the same pill... I can't ignore the cost ya know.
Anyway... tmrw I think I'll call my usual pharmacy and just ask them to explain it to me. Even though I didnt get the pills there I'm sure they will. They are good people.
