Anyone have any experiences with drinking alcohol and taking met?

I tried it only once- I got really tipsy really quick. I had like 1/4 of a pina colada and it was like I was drunk! That's with me eating a meal while having the drink.

Everyone is different though. Some complain of GI upset so if you try it be close to a bathroom just in case.

I did it several time while I was on it. Whenever I would get my BFN I would give myself 2-3 days of partying until I was back to being good. I never had any problems.

I get crazy sick and VERY drunk on not even a glass of wine with met so be prepared! It may not cause you any problems but be aware that for some it is not the best thing to do if you are wanting to make a good impression!

I'm fine with it. I don't drink a ton in general anyways, but 2 glasses of wine and I'm fine (no bad s/e).

it depends what i drink. I can have a few glasses of wine and i'm fine but if i have just one Baileys then it's the bathroom for me all night, also can't tolerate Magners (sweet cider)

I think that it's because these both are very sweet, would imagine i'd have the same reaction with southern comfort or other thick syrup liquers

It depends. I feel that i get tipsy quicker while on metformin. Just make sure you eat before you go out drinking, dont over do it, and drink water when you get home to flush out some of the alcohol.

I tend to get tipsy quicker than I usually would but nothing crazy and it definately helps alot if I eat before hand.

oh my gosh. my dh and i went out with some friends. I had two very weak apple martinis. By the end of the second, my husband was giving me strange looks. I was totally trashed. I didn't understand what was wrong with me and I was so embarassed because I had trouble walking to the car! I had met my husband at the restaraunt and we had to leave my car because I couldn't drive. I was so stumped! I couldn't understand why I was so drunk. Months later I read an article that metformin could actualy double to triple the effects of alcohol! And suddenly I knew what had happened to me!

It can upset your tummy so the days I knew I was going to drink I would skip the night dose of met. Did not ever increase the effect of alcohol in me.

Like everyone else, I get buzzed more quickly. On a positive note, I really don't want any liquor while on the Met, which is a good thing since I regularly had 1-2 cocktails a day.

Am I the only one that thinks this is kinda cool? lol. I am all about not spending ridiculous amounts of money on drinks. And if 1 drink can do what 3-4 usually do, then...right on!

fyi, i probably party once every two to three months, so i hope this doesnt make me sound like a heavy drinker lol.

Im on D chiro inositol and due to start met 1700 at my next AF and the D chiro had the same effect as you all are saying. I had a cokacola and rum and I was crazy sick and DRUNK as a maggot in a tequila. It was really really weird and I felt soo ill. Seemed like it trippled the effects. I wouldnt mind the drunk feeling, it was the head spinning and sickness part that has scared me!

I cannot drink with Met. I drank a Low Carb Mike Hard Lemonade and got really nauseous. I just gave up on alcohol in general and its sad because i like wine every once in a while LOL!!....i'm really ok with it though if it means i feel better
