Spironolactone is the generic for aldactone. Search the site for Spiro and you find more information that you know what to do with =)

Good luck!!!!

Eva,

Did you see any results in the first four months? Thats how long I have been on it but have not seen anything! Doctor put me on 50mg a day, I want to increase but am wondering if I should wait the 9-12 months first?

Thanks!!!

I took Aldactone, but not long enough for results. My doctor said it can take up to 6 mos to see results. I stopped because it could cause possible birth defects if we were blessed with a little one. We're not trying but not really preventing. Good luck!

Thanks for the info!!! I do see my dr next month, and hopefully he will up my dose. I just wanted to know other's experience with dosage and how long before results were seen so that I can discuss this with him.

You all are great - I am so glad I found this site!!!!!!

I was on 100 mg for 2 years and before I tried to take met to O and ruined my life, the spiro worked great. I lost 40 pounds (half my dress size) and my skin looked like Cover Girl. My hair stopped shedding but I did not regrow. But I had AF every 2 weeks (had copper IUD so no pg possibility). Once I added met spiro stopped working forever even after I quit met.

So, it did wonders for me in a nutshell.
