After many years of battling with doctors that don't care and now dealing with having no health insurance, I finally decided to stick up for myself. I have obtained Aldactone, rather cheaply I might add, from an online pharmacy. I started taking it at 25mg twice a day, and have noticed my hair is falling out less and I have lost about 10 pounds. I am wanting to increase my dosage. My questions are:
What dosage are most of you on?
Did you work up to that dosage, or begin at that level?
What sorts of results have you seen?
My main concern right now is losing weight and controlling unwanted hair, but I will happily take a change in any of these lovely symptoms, and am just trying to get it figured out.
I've just started it and has been pretty good. I am on 25mg twice a day. It is removing my hairyness and I am really happy about it. My endo wants to test me again in Sept. for potassium then increase dosage. Watch your potassium tho, cause it is a potassium sparing drug. Also, another thing I noticed was it lessened my hunger! I wonder what a larger dose would do!!

I just started this (on Saturday actually) so I can't offer much insight as to how it works yet.
But my doc put me on 100mg per day. My pharmacist said this was more than usual...so that's kinda weird.
In the three days, I've noticed I've been peeing sooo much more than normal. Little nausea though, which is good.
I hadn't heard that it helps to lose weight though... I'd assume it'd be water weight. Either way, I can stand to lose some, so that's cool by me!

i've been using it for 3 months now. i have noticed a difference in my mustache... i don't need to wax every two weeks. more like every three for now. i'm sure it will get longer as my body gets used to it.
i am on 100 mg. i'm happy for you that you took things into your own hands and went to an online source.
what is the website address? I have a feeling that I may need to get metformin on my own. my doc is hesitant to prescribe it and i KNOW that i need it. ugh - i think you know how frustrating that can be given your aldactone situation here.
PS I bleed a lot during my periods for the first two months, but i am ok now. my periods are fine now...

I actually have been using different sites for different meds (I also take Prozac, and use some sleeping aids). I just did a search on Yahoo for the 2 words "prescription" and "online" and then shopped around by medication. I have found that some sites are cheaper for one med but the most expensive for another. Aldactone appears to be quite cheap everywhere. I have not yet looked into Metformin, that would be my next step, but I luckily have a bunch to start with that I got from my father who is diabetic.
I hope that helps...thanks for the responses to my questions, I just am happy with the results and want to increase as much as I can, but do not want to overdo it.
I guess I am just scared to use any old presription site out there, so I was hoping to bump into someone who has used a website pharmacy. Would you recommend either of the ones you use?

Well first off you musn't use it while ttc or pregnant!!
I was on it for almost a year and while I loved the results the side efeects were horrible!!
I started out on 50 mgs and bumped up to 100 and then down back to 50 until I stopped taking it.
The side effect I had was FREQUENT periods, like every 2 weeks.
I did notice a difference in the facial hair and a big improvement on the hair on my belly, but bleeding like a stuck pig all the time isn't worth it plus hubby and I are ttc now and you can take it during ttc.
ohhhhhh and you MUST monitor your blood pressure!!!! This drug is for that purpose and you wouldn't want your blood pressure to be below normal.
Also it's normal to pee more, and it does take off some weight at first although it's mostly water weight.
Basically stay well hydrated, aviod large amounts of potassium, monitor blood pressure, and don't use while ttc or preggers.
Hope that helps a little

The first I have received meds from, and although they come from random countries (my Prozac comes from Fiji!), I have no complaints. The second one I think I found on here and seems to be the cheapest so far for the Aldactone.
I took this drug many many years when I was younger. I took 100 mg. day. They only tell you to take 1/2 that amount for the first week. It never caused me any major problems and i lost weight on it too.
P.S. I can't tolerate it now but my hormones have leveled off with age.
