Default aldactone and weight loss

Has any thin cyster had a problem with weight loss from aldactone(spironolactone). I was on it for acne and lost 15lbs almost at once. Im 5'5 125lbs and now im 110lbs. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this before. I've been off if it for about a year and cant seem to gain weight back. Any info would be helpful. Has anyone heard of it causing a thyroid problem hyper or hypo??????

I'm probably not thin enough to be a thin cyster since I'm slightly overweight. I was around 175 when I started on aldactone. I dropped to 153 or so after being on it a while....which is what I should be. Now I weigh between those two numbers and I've been on aldactone for over two years now.

have you heard of it causing weight loss????? I have never heard of that before but its the only thing I have ever taken so I assume that is the culprit.

Well, it is a mild diurectic. It will cause some excess fluid to leave you when you go to the bathroom causing a little weight loss.

Aldactone helps with symptoms but I as for myself I still deal with some symptoms of PCOS. It isn't a cure all unfortunately.

Everybody with PCOS is different. It's those crazy hormones! It's good that you are having fewer symptoms. Some cysters have different symptoms of PCOS than I experience. With the possible symptoms being varied, PCOS can be just a little different for every cyster.
