One reason for elevated liver enzymes is fatty liver, which can result from insulin resistance. Insulin sensitizing meds such as Met can actually help reverse fatty liver. There is a sticky at the top of the page about fatty liver, met, and insulin resistance you might want to take a look at.
Liver enzymes can be elevated for all sorts of other reasons, so you do need to discuss this with your doc.
