I just wanted to give you girls a Public Service Announcement lol.
All BCPs in New Zealand will only cost you $3 - with or without a Community Services Card.
The only exception is if you are on an obscure pill but then your doctor will be aware of it and in most cases will outline this too you.
I went to a pharmacy yesterday to get my script refilled, she said it was $15 and I said to her I would come back with my CSC another time as I had only taken coins along with me. I went to a different pharmacy today who straight out charged me $3 without asking me for my CSC so I asked her about it. She said almost every BCP a doctor will prescribe is subsidised for everyone and will only cost $3. It was actually just a different branch of the same pharmacy chain (Unichem from memory) so she was going to ring up and put them straight.
Most of you will probably know this already but I thought I'd let you all know just in case.

I reckon the best thing you can do for yourself is find yourself a great doctor and inform yourself (independently) and I have found this site is so helpful already so far.
Personally I have been to support groups before (in UK) but I didn't find them as helpful as I had hoped (partly content-wise but mostly making time to attend and location was tricky too). Certainly this kind of support group that you can access 24/7 and with a broad multi-country range of experience and knowledge is GREAT!!
Thanks Feb'star for the heads up about the BCP only costing $3, does it include Yasmin (do you know?) because I recently got 6 months supply and paid about $120!

Nah Yasmin isn't one of them sorry lol, but its reasonably new in NZ so maybe sometime soon it will be subsidised?
I'm just looking at the July 2008 Pharmac Schedule and apparently they subsidise chocolate and strawberry 'Gold Knight' condoms.
Why?! Why not spend that money on Yasmin lol
And reading even further - maybe I'm a PHO enrolee and thats why it doesn't matter if I have a CSC or not?

Hey Yaz should shortly be on there. I see they are now advertising on telly like Dianeete used to do WAY back in the day. fingers crossed it will come down soon! Heck write to the health minister and explain why you want it reduced to a $3.00 cost!

I'm in sunny Blenheim and have just paid $35 for 6 months subscription of Loette, my Dr looked up all that were subscribed in any way and Loette had the lowest dose of Oestrogen (sp?), Yasmin is lower and I would LOVE to try it but just not financially viable. When I started on Diane 35 (a million years ago), it wasn't subsidised either but your Dr could write to the MOH and you'd receive a letter which would give it to you for $3 as it was for treatment of PCOS primarily rather than BCP. But unfortunately is not the case now
