My Dr recommended this website to me today, and I just gotta say WOW! There is so much info, help, support on here!
The specialist finally confirmed I had PCOS today, its all happened really quick..I was on the pill for about 3 years and hadn't had AF and then a couple on months ago it arrived and didn't go away for about 5weeks. This prompted my GP to send me for an abundance on tests, including an ultrasound. This revealled cysts on my ovaries. My GP took about a body load of blood and today when I saw the specialist she revealed everything was normal except for my hormone levels and HPH and LPH (i hope this right - I mean good/bad cholesterol)!! With this in mind I have been prescribed Metformin. I had read about this on just about every PCOS website and although it sounds like a scary drug I really hope it helps. I've always been overweight, and considering everyone in my family is tiny this has always been a real sore point for me. Anyway with out pouring my heart and soul out I'm off to see the GP later on to get the prescription filled out and hopefully get somethings back on track.
Its good to know there are other people out there going through the same thing and that I can find help and support at the click of a button.
So I suppose I'm trying to say thanks, in advance, for putting my mind at ease!!!!
Welcome. And congratulations on getting a diagnosis that the doctor was willing to follow up on. You might want to check the Metformin threads. There's one specifically about dealing with Met side effects. Good luck!

welcome to sc how great your gp recommended sc to you. Here is a link to the metformin section of sc for you. I find with met that as long as i avoid greasy/fatty/sugar food as much as poss, and always eat with the met i am ok with it. There is also a link in my siggie to the uk section of sc, but of course we're welcome all over the boards http://www.soulcysters.net/metformin/
