Hi girls, just checking in.

I've been away, my DH and I went to the Dominican for a week and just got back. My dr had said it would be OK to go while I was pg, but I didn't realize how tired I would be so it was hard for me to have the energy to do anything. We had driven by a Kingdom Hall very close to the resort, and I wanted to go to the meeting, even though I only understand maybe 6 words of spanish - but I thought it would be nice to meet some of the brothers and sisters. And, a lot of the people who live in the town near the resort speak english as it is a tourist area. But, the meeting times were in the evening and it is not safe to leave the resort after dark so we weren't able to go.

Back to work on Monday... but, only one month to go until my Maternity leave starts.

Last night aroung 11:30 our carbon monoxide detector went of again! This is so frusterating, it is the third detector we've had and we've had the gas guys come in before and they couldn't find anything, but I was worried - I didn't want to be one of the families that ignores the warnings and doesn't wake up. So, we woke up DD and took her to my mom's (she has a little bed there, my mom is my babysitter while I work) and DH & I went to a hotel (my mom doesn't have enough room for us) So, the gas guys came again today and couldn't find anything. DH had a furnace guy come, we've been talking about replacing the furnace - it's about 20 yrs old, and there isn't any duct work to speak of, so we have to get it done, we've just been putting it off. I've had enough of the worry about not being safe in my own home. So, hopefully the furnace guy can fit us in after next week. We do need to have a better emergancy plan though....

Cora - Sounds like you had a nice vacation. I'm sure if worried you when the alarm went off. Hopefully everything will be fixed soon.

I figure that I'm pretty much screwed for the district convention this year. Our convention is planned the weekend I'm due. So we had planned to catch the convention in June since they normally start around here at that time. I was looking in the mag yesterday to plan our attendence and saw that the 1st one is July 10-13...1 week before my due date. The Dr told me that I would probably deliver 1 to 2 weeks early. So I'm thinking that this year might not be working out for me. I'm happy to know that a brother in our hall video's the convention every year for his sickly wife. So at least I can get a copy of that. Hopefully it will work our for me to attend but I'm not sure that will be happening.

Holland, if your interested in coming to Canada they start earlier.... just kidding. I wouldn't be traveling anywhere that far along.

I got an "official" date for my baby. I'm having a planned C-section May 26th. So, I'll have about 5 weeks of recovery before the convention. I've been worrying about that too though. We have to walk aroung 4 blocks from the hotel to the underground train station. I don't know how I'm going to be able to haul 2 kids, plus lunches, plus books, diaper bags ect and at that point I'm also not supposed to be lifting anything heavier than the baby. And, I'm worried about taking a newborn baby to the convention with so many people that could be sick seen as how their imune system is not "up to par" until 4 months old. Oh what to do. One day at a time. I should ask about special needs parking. That would help.

The furnace guy is coming Monday. DH has a project this weekend to cut in some more vents and cold air returns. Always work to do.

Did anyone see the special on "the man with no face"? I seen it last night on the Discovery channel. He's a JW and under terrible pressure to accept a blood transfusion. The show ended without him agreeing to it. However, it doesn't give an outcome when he's given the chance to pursue smaller operations without the blood. I found it to be truly inspiring and amazing faith builder.
The Man With No Face

For the past 35 years, 51 year-old Jose Mestre, from Lisbon, has been losing his face to a massive growth, distorting it out of all recognition – and it's still growing.

The tumour on Jose's face is a vascular malformation, a collection of blood vessels that have expanded, producing a raised red area on the skin. Jose was born with a strawberry-coloured birth mark on his upper lip; at puberty his face started growing, eventually smothering his lips, nose and one of his eyes. It's now about 33cm long and weighs around 3kg.

The Man with No Face meets the man behind the 'mask' and attempts to understand what it is like to have such an affliction. How does he cope with day to day life - with the stares, the ridicule and people taking photographs?

Surrounded by a loving family, it seems incredible that he has not been treated and his face was allowed to grow so big. However, through years of medical misinformation, some misdiagnosis, lack of finances, and reluctance to undergo treatment due to religious beliefs, the growth has continued to obliterate his face.

My Shocking Story follows Jose on a journey through Europe to seek medical advice for one last chance to stop his face from suffocating him. In this journey of a lifetime he will discover the truth about his condition, as he travels by train, via Paris, to Britain, to meet the top experts in London. He will go through a series of tests, consultations, and meet other patients with a similar affliction. Here he will also spend time with his brother and the rest of his family, enjoy being a tourist in London, while making the biggest decision of his life:

Jose's dream is to live a long and normal life. Will he decide to change his religious beliefs, and risk an operation to remove his malformation, or will he decide against surgery and accept that he will continue living the rest of his life without a face?

Hi Ladies,

I got a BFP yesterday, two actually. So now I'm terrified. I knew something had been different. My food tastes off, like everything tastes like a ton of sugar has been dumped onto it. I'm gassy, bloated, tired, I have to go...a lot! I get headaches all the time. So I decided to take a test, and I couldn't believe it. I'm terrified because I'm afraid if I am, I could lose it. This has never happened before. I freaking out! I wish I was more excited. I'm going to go get more tests today and then if they are positive, i'm going to the doctor to be sure. EEK!

Chloe, that's great news! Congrats! BTW - I love the quote in your siggy.

Heidi, I had seen most of that program but didn't get to finish it. I hadn't heard the outcome - thanks for filling in the gaps. What a powerful example of faith.

Holland, how are you feeling, do you feel lots of movement yet? I feel lots, and see lots from the outside - but DH is too impatient to wait long enough and always misses it. Kind of makes me feel bad.

Ok so I bought another brand of pt's and this time they were negative. I dunno, i'm really confused. I'm going to take another test in a week and see what it says. Isn't it rare to get a false positive?

With my first DD I took about 5 tests before I was able to go for blood work. Some were + but some were -. Funny thing the cheap tests were the +'s and the more expensive first response were -'s. I of course wanted to beleive the +'s and completely ignored the -'s. Won't it almost kill you to wait another week! Why not go to the doctor now? Tell them you had a + home test and ask them to do blood work. But that's me, I'm a very impatient person, and too curious for my own good.

Hi ladies! I'm from Auckland, New Zealand (Weymouth congregaton). Was pleasantly surprised to find some of my sisters on this site! Just found out I am pregnant for the second time. Chloe, it sounds like we might have a very close due date. I thought you could get false-negative tests, but not false-positives. Don't know where that little pearl of wisdom came from, but there you go, it was burried somewhere in my brain.

Chloe - What type of test did you get the negitive on? Was it a digital or one that has lines? I know sometimes it's hard to see that 2nd line. In fact the 1st test I took was a lined test and we had to put it up to the window about 2 hours after taking before we could see anything I hope you really have a BFP! Try not to stress....have you called the DR to make an appt yet for a BETA?

Hayley - Congrats on your BFP!!! It's so nice to have new sister join our thread

When is everyones DC scheduled for this year?

Default New Jersey Jehovah's Witness family killed in plane crash:

This happened a few hours from where I live. It's so sad.

N.J. Family Killed in Buffalo Plane Crash Remembered

by Nyier Abdou and Brian T. Murray/ The Star-Ledger
Saturday February 28, 2009, 9:18 PM

More than 1,500 people gathered at the Jersey City Assembly Hall of Jehovah's earlier tonight to remember a Bloomfield family killed two weeks ago when Continental Connection Flight 3407 crashed in a Buffalo, N.Y. suburb, killing all 49 people aboard and one man on the ground.

Donald and Dawn Mossop, their 12-year-old son, Shawn, and Dawn Mossop's 44-year-old sister, Ferris Reid, were remembered as an inseparable, loving family who relished traveling together, eating well together and worshipping together at their Jehovah's Witness congregation in Montclair. The sisters, who had 12 other siblings, also were celebrated for their faith and their dedication to their ministry.

"These sisters shared their lives in an incredible realm of love. Where you saw one, you were bound to see the others," said Keith Frierson, the assembly's circuit overseer and chairman.

The memorial was held at the historic, former Stanley Theater near the PATH station in Journal Square, which was restored by thousands of Jehovah's volunteers.

Donald and Dawn Mossop, both natives of Jamaica, were married in 1991 and shared their home with Reid. In a funeral discourse, David Iannelli, a religious leader who is one of the district's overseers, relayed memories told by family and friends, highlighting their strong faith.

Donald, known as "Danny," was a good listener who was always ready and willing to help others, he said. Iannelli said Donald also was handy--and that his mother remembered him taking clocks off the wall as a young boy to take them apart and figure out how to put them together.

Dawn was close with all of her sisters, each one prone to staying up late talking and making shopping trips they called "retail therapy." Co-workers voted Dawn best dressed in their division at Schering Plough. She also loved to cook, and relentlessly pursued new recipes.

Shawn Mossop, born in 1996, was known for his remarkably compelling bible readings and his mental catalogue of the nation's roller coasters, which he loved, according to friends and family.

The plane crashed after taking off from Newark Liberty International Airport and approaching Buffalo.

Hi ladies,
I have been following your thread for awhile. I was raised in the truth and I am *trying* to start going back to meetings. I see that the bookstudy and and service meeting are all on one night now, that's awesome. Can you tell me the name of the book that is being study in the bookstudy? I have a lot of publications (some of my family are Witnesses but I don't want to let them know that I'm going back just yet). Thanks in advance!
