Hey Heidi welcome!! I've just finished my first week of induction on Atkins and have lost 3 kg so far (most of it in water form if you know what I mean...lol)
Awesome on the new job !! yay for Summers off.
Steph, you absolutely can eat mints, it's the essential essences you need to be wary of as these are HIGHLY concentrated.
Oils which may be unsafe to use during pregnancy include: basil, cedarwood, clary sage, fennel, hyssop, juniper, marjoram, pennyroyal, peppermint, rosemary, thyme. (So just check any scented candles, bath oils, massage oils, etc)
Recommended oils for use during pregnancy include: benzoin, chamomile, cypress, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, jasmine, lavender, lemon, mandarin, palmarosa, patchouli, rose, ylang-ylang.
Morning sickness. The following suggestions should work very quickly to dispel morning sickness. The scent of the spearmint will calm your tummy during the night and you should wake up with no nasty queasiness. Use any or all of the following ideas:
Put a drop of spearmint oil on the light globe before switching on the bedroom light
Put another two drops on cotton wool and tuck it under your pillow
Place a small bowl of lukewarm water in the bedroom before going to bed. Sprinkle with 1 drop of spearmint and 2 drops of lavender oil -Source:"Aromatherapy" by Nerys Purchon
The Gatorade doesn't stop the sickness but can help minimise dehydration (dehydration makes you feel sicker), and means you're getting something if you can't keep anything else down.

Caroline, I've been thinking about starting a new diet. I really need to do something, i'm trying to choose between Atkins and South Beach. I've even considered medifast, just because i am desperate. How have you liked Atkins so far?
Well today i had an out patient procedure to look at my stomach and esophagus. I've had a lot of tummy issues lately.. it turns out i have a 7cm hernia in my stomach, which causes the stomach acid to come up the esophagus, so i have some swelling due to that acid and then they also found some irregularities in my esophagus so they did two biopsies to make sure what it is. Hopefully i'll start getting better now that i they know what it is.
Steph- any news from Marcie?
Chloe- Congrats on the new job!

Hi Iris,
I'm an Atkins fan from way back although have never followed it properly (hence I'm starting again.... ) I did look into South Beach, but it seemed like a lower fat version of Atkins and was just as restrictive in the first two weeks. I'm really enjoying it, I'm prepared with things I can snack on and even when we had a family day BBQ, I was able to eat low carb and make a low carb dessert too, so I fully felt like I was getting as much out of the dinner as everyone else (even if they did have sponge cake.... mmmm). As long as you prepare well for it and plan ahead then it's great, it's when you're hungry and rushed and need something fast.. always keep some cooked meat in the fridge, find alternatives to your favourite things, use lipostix/ketostix to keep you motivated so you can tell when you're losing weight even if you can't feel it. I've lost 3kg (am now 180lb)and have another 11 to go, I expect to lose less this week than last and then considerably slower weight loss in the coming months but it'll all work out to me at my goal weight, eating basically a very healthy low GI diet for the rest of my life. well until the new system!!!

I got an email this morning that i just have to share, it really made me think of how valuable the meeting seats are:
At a recent circuit assembly a circuit overseer, gave an awesome talk during the portion, 'Giving Attention to the Needs of the Circuit.' He talked about meeting attendance.
He asked: 'How much would you pay for a seat at a world-class opera? How much would you pay for a seat at a popular music concert? How much money would you pay for a seat in one of the world's finest educational institute?' He went on to compare how much many people pay just for a chair so they can be in places they want to be. Then, he asked: 'What about your chair at the kingdom hall ? Can you put a price tag on it? God's word says 'Yes'!' He went on to read Acts 20:28, which gives counsel to overseers about paying attention to yourselves and to all the flock...'Then, it mentions 'the congregation, which was bought with the blood of God's son, Christ Jesus. He lowered his Bible. Then, he said forcefully:'What's the price now? If there was a price tag on your seat at the kingdom hall , it would say 'the blood of God's son, Christ Jesus' He highlighted the fact that anywhere else, a seat with a high price would never be empty. But in the kingdom hall, why then, with such a high price, are so many seats without people in them? He concluded by reminding us 'your seat at the kingdom hall has been reserved especially for you. And the blood of Christ Jesus is responsible. And with such a high price tag, please don't let it be empty.'

Iris - wow, such a powerful statement. I love CO's, they always make you think about something you've never thought of before.
I am so hungry lately! All day I've been starving and I'm eating like a horse. In fact my stomach is grumbling right now.

Wow, it's our last Book Study group tonight... I can't believe how fast it has come around!!! I missed last week as I have been fighting a major breast infection (not too much fun!!) and am determined to go tonight... sniff..... While I am joyfully embracing this new arrangement, it is a little sad to let go of our small group meetings. Check out my girls ready for the meeting

I was raised JW and due to both personal and theological conflicts have become inactive... not disassociated or disfellowshipped, don't worry- but I always think about what is going on in the organization. And apparently there has been a rearrangement of meetings?

Jessica - they are combining the book study with the school & service meeting. Personal study is so very important and everyone is encouraged to use the extra night to do personal or family study.
We have 1 more next week. I'm going to miss them too.

Caroline - Your girls are growing so fast! Their so cute
Heidi - Welcome
Iris - How are you doing?
We had our last bookstudy last night. We all brought things to have dinner after. Someone brought a potato and cheese dish. It was baking in the oven during the study I almost had to get up and leave and have DH get a ride home. I really didn't want to leave since it was the last one. DH held my hand the whole time as it shook from me holding in the puke We told everyone after the meeting that I was pregnant. We were going to wait till 12 weeks before we said anything but everyone thinks I'm dying from some horrible illness since I've been so sick. Everyone was so happy! All I could eat was a little bit of white rice. I told them all that in a couple months when I'm feeling better we need to do this again so I can actually eat.
I'm going to miss the bookstudy but I'm really going to enjoy having the extra evening now especially since I've been so sick.

Our last bookstudy was wonderful! DH made sure he was able to go to work late the next day so we could spend awhile there just soaking it all in. We had a big turkey dinner, although I could only eat small portions of anything that was ok for me to eat. But it was great!
Irisa, thank you for sharing with us what that CO said. Everytime I feel down or like I don't want to go to the meeting, I now think of the price that was paid for me to be there and learn about our wonderful God Jehovah. I will never take our meetings for granted again. I appreciated it!
Hope everyone is doing great.

That's funny, I was just telling DH today that it feels like i've missed a meeting last week. I think that's why they made it a point to emphasize to use that night as a family study night. We're definitely going to take advantage of the time to do just that.
Also, I wanted to note that i've lost 14lbs since i've started my new eating "style." I haven't really exercised so it's all been because of diet. 14 lbs in three months doesn't seem like much, but i've noticed it in my clothes, and my wedding ring doesn't fit me any longer. It just falls off. I have to go get it resized sometime in the future. I'm so excited, i really hope that this is the beginning to kickstart ovulation. We'll see!
No one has been on here much, but I hope everyone is doing great!

I've been lurking just not posting. It was very strange to not have to go out 2 nights last week. It's going to take some getting used to.
Chloe - Congrats on the weight loss!!!! That's so exciting
I'm hanging in there right now. The M/S is still kicking but at least I'm not throwing up at night anymore. Only in the mornings. Still no fun!!!! We've been keeping busy with our little puppies. We started our add this past Sat in the paper. We've had 3 people call so far. Someone came to take a look on Sunday. Someone is coming tonight. I hope DH gets home in time for them because I don't think I'm going to be feeling up to dealing with those little stinkers when I get home.
