So I was diagnosed back in May 2009 and the doctor started me on metformin 500mg. One week later I started taking 1000mg a day. This week, the doctor just put me on 1500mg a day. The only real problem in my blood work was my FSH/LH ratio. No issues with testosterone, etc. I'm a thin cyster too. I've been feeling so much better since I started Metformin. But boy, have I been feeling some new things. My chest has gotten bigger, and every time I changed a dose I am super tender there. I feel a lot going on in my lower abdomen (around where my ovaries are). It's so strange to have all these feelings because to be honest it feels like my body is on overdrive trying to balance itself out. Don't get me wrong, it's really encouraging because it gives me hope that the metformin is doing it's job. But sometimes I feel like I'm going through puberty again (especially with the mood swings)!
Has anyone else had experiences like this? I've looked to see if this is normal but haven't found much about it. I'd love to hear some feedback.

WOW, reading your post, I thought I wrote it myself! I started 3 weeks ago, moved up to 1500mg. The past week I have been soooo bloated, my lower abdomen always aches. I am also constipated and crabby. Actually not just crabby...I have been a huge b****. I hope these s/e go away soon...good luck!

Just upped my dosage. Going through the adjustments. Moody, lonely, sick and needy. However, I felt this way when I first started met and then I felt better. Hopefully we will all feel better again soon.
Glad you posted this...I have been MOOOOOODY this week and didn't even equate it to starting Met last week. I was trying to figure out what my deal was!
I started taking Met on June 12th and at first I thought, "Could I be pregnant?" I was sooo moody and tender breasts and nauseated all the time.
Of course, after two pregnancy tests I unfortunately am not pregnant. I just went up to 1500mg five days ago and after an AWFUL weekend of feeling ill, I'm starting to feel back to normal. Hopefully you'll feel better soon!
I'm thinking this a good sign. Maybe it's my body realizing how things should be. At least I can hope and be encouraged in that a little right?

Absolutely! You should totally feel encouraged. I started on Metformin on April 6, but I had a horrible diet - ate fast food 5 days out of the week - and it didn't seem to work. Well, about two weeks ago, I finally truly committed to a new lifestyle. The new diet (healthy eating: veggies, bran, whole wheat, etc.) really kickstarted the Metformin for me and I'm feeling the same things throughout my body. Which is EXCITING b/c it means it's WORKING! WOOHOO! The sooner it works, the sooner my body will be balanced and the sooner I can become pregnant!
So stay encouraged! Don't let anything get you down. When you start to feel so aggravated that you have to suffer through the physical discomfort, take DH out on a date to a funny movie or something. But definitely stay positive. I think it's just a matter of time and patience on our end.
Good luck!

Crazy. I started Glumetza June 10. Had a cycle. Then I'm pretty sure I felt my body actually ovulating for the first time in a loooooooong time-around day 10-11 of my cycle. Though to myself, hmm...strange new feelings. Not bad, just not familiar. Thanks for sharing your info!
