Kimmy-There is nothing more I can say that Heather did not just say. You and your family are in my prayers.

Hi Erin and Heather (and everyone else)-- Chloe's condition remains the same-- she continues in intensive care on a ventilator, with unrelenting seizures. It's a very serious sign that her brain is extremely damaged. We were just notified today by the adoption agency that the biological mother has taken over legal responsibility for Chloe (who is baptized and legally named Anais-- the name we had chosen for her middle name). The agency is providing ongoing support for the bio mother (who continues to stay in a shelter near the hospital) but they have no more responsibility than that. Legally, in this scenario, this means that we are completely out of the picture with no legal rights to Chloe/Anais whatsoever and we are now not permitted to visit her at the hospital because her bio mom has taken full responsibility. For me, it is a huge relief to know that Chloeīs biological mother is watching over her, although I cannot imagine what she must be going through every day. What an amazing woman she is to choose to stay involved after she was planning to give Chloe/Anais up for adoption-- I think she is truly an angel. If Chloe/Anais lives, DH and I would like to help her mother out financially (giving her clothes, diapers, formula-- whatever she needs) because she will need it desperately.

Kimmy-This is such a difficult situation you are going through. It is amazing that her mother is stepping in like she is. You and your DH are great people for wanting to help her out like that. Keep us updated with any changes in her condition. Also take care of yourself and Philip.

Congrats Erin on expecting a boy!!! You must be so excited!Seems like time is just flying by lately!
Kimmy - I hadn't gotten a chance to comment on your recent Chloe/Anais update. I'm glad that the bio mom has changed her mind and came back around to care for her. I think its awesome of you to be willing to help the bio mom out in the future, you're such a wonderful caring women. How is your heart doing? I think the last update you said you had arrhythmia's and had to go back on medication, are those still happending or are things calming down for you?

On a TTC Break after 3.5 years
Hubby has hyperthyroidism, with T4 at 85 (normal 22) and T3 at 35 (normal 6.5)
July 2009 - Radio Active Iodine - Failed. Did not kill off enough thyroid.
Hi Heather--Thanks for asking about my heart. I was able to wean myself off the heart meds once again-- about two weeks after Chloe was born. Still med free and hoping to stay that way until Phillip is born. It is challenging because with pregnancy you can get tachycardia (normal) and this sometimes sets off my other heart rhythm issues which is a scary combo. Anyway, I pretty much am just taking it day by day... I see that you O'ed on soy and DEA... thatīs really good news. (I did Chinese traditional medicine with herbs and acupuncture when I was TTCing... great stuff.) Hopefully you can try it again once your hubby gets through his treatment. By the way, my mother couldnīt decide to name me Kim or Heather and finally settled on Kim. I honestly wish she had chosen Heather, which is one of my favorite names.

Kimmy - I'm soo glad your doing better. I was a bit shocked to read that you had a heart problem, which just made your situation all that much scarier.
Soy worked really well for me, I'm hoping to do Soy in the future with IUI (slight male factor). Unfortunately hubs treatment didn't go so well and he has to re-do the radiation, so another 6 months.
So, next July (omg, that sounds like forever now) I might be asking ya some questions about herbs and acupuncture - acupuncture interests me for fertility.. I need to read more on that.
I hated my name as a child - it rhymed too easily. The entire pregnancy my mother called me Victoria .... my father called me Heather as soon as I was born, so he won ;-)

How funny that you didnīt like your name! I love it... I would name a daughter Heather except that I live in Mexico and it is not easy to pronounce in Spanish. People often substitute "d" for the "th" so it would end up sounding like "Header"... Nope that is definitely not a possibility.
So sorry about your hubby. That is very difficult... but the longer you have to wait, the more you will treasure your baby when he or she finally comes. I am VERY happy to share what I know about Traditional Chinese Medicine. There is a fabulous book about Chinese medicine and fertility which was like a bible for me. You can PM me whenever you want and I can send you the full details if you are interested in ordering it. I was not doing TCM when I got pregnant in Jan and then again in March-- because of my heart arrhythmia, I had stopped the herbs a few months before, although I was still practicing acupressure and using heat on certain points. (Since I live in Mexico, there was no one to guide me with the herbs and the heart sitch...) I firmly believe that the herbs and acupuncture really helped bring my body into a healthier space which made conceiving easier when it finally happened. Thatīs the idea of TCM... to make the soil fertile so that when the seed finally drops, the pregnancy will take... There is also advice for male factor fertility in that book. I donīt know what problem your hubby has, but it might be worth looking into it.

Kimmy- It sorta funny about my name, I'm French Canadian. I was born in the English speaking province of Ontario, however all previous generations in my family were born in the French Speaking province of Quebec. Soo in french, the letter 'h' is completely silent. 'hotel' is 'otel'... so everyone in my family can't pronounce my name properly. Sorta comes out sound like 'Ehh-Der'. I tease my mom that she let my father name me Heather just to annoy her mother.
Because I have the time in the next 9 months or so, I am going to try to focus on getting healthier so that when we can try again, we'll have the best chance possible.
Hubby, we're not sure whats causing the MFI, just a lower count, not obscenely low, but lower than norm. Thing is, because he has Graves Disease with Thyroid issues, THAT could be the reason for MFI. We're hoping after successful treatment for his hyperthyroid, his counts will improve. I'm also gonna get him on some herbs/vitamins and such before we start TTC again.... Theres a MFI buddy group and a lot of the girls find that a certain blend of herbs and vitamins helps to increase the counts.
Because of the struggles, we already know that when we do get preggers, if its a boy his name will be Phoenix. Hubbys family is mostly boys for a few generations, so chances are we'll have Phoenix... just gotta be patient (and thats the hard part)

Heather-- I studied French Lit in college so I speak French as well and yes, I agree, your name is not easy to pronounce for speakers of French either!!! Itīs like an English torture instrument for your Quebequois relatives! Hee, hee...
I got your PM and this weekend when I have time to find that book Iīm going to send you all the info on it. It's a real gem since it makes TCM accessible to couples with fertility issues. I personally think it would be even better to work with a TCM doctor using the book as a reference. In the US, there are now a lot of TCM doctors specializing in fertility. I bet there are some up in Canada as well. By the way, many years back, I was up in Ottawa and Wakefield, Ontario and then spent a few days in Montreal-- I absolutely loved it up there but even in mid-November it was COLD! Brrr...
Yes, TTCing is all about patience. Even though Iīm just a few weeks away from delivering after 5+ years of TTCing, it seems to go by slowly. Until baby Phillip is in my arms, I still won't be able to believe it...

Hey girls! I just wanted to give you an update on the adoption. The day after Thanksgiving we are going to travel to FL. We are going to meet the birth parents on Saturday. I am a little nervous. The bf is kind of flakey and may not show up. We will just have to wait and see.
Kimmy-Just a very short time left for you. Any word on how thing are going?

Erin-- I love the name, too! Wishing you and DH tons and tons of positive vibes for a good visit with the birth parents. I would be nervous too, but if you believe that what is meant to be will be and let go a bit, it might help. Iīm nervous right now for my C-section which is scheduled for Wednesday morning and I know I just have to give up my desire to control everything and BREATHE! Please keep us posted on how the visit goes and Iīll be sending super duper baby vibes your way. Hugs from Mexico!
