I've always been able to eat almost anything without an upset tummy, but I've also always gotten severe upset stomach & headache when forced to breath other people's cigarette smoke.
Cigarette smoke is the worst, but I also get upset tummy & headache when I inhale paint fumes, cologne, any acrid smell. The problem is worse early in the morning and/or on an empty stomach.
Does anybody else have this problem? I've never been able to get any doctor to have a rational opinion as to why this is.
Luckily, life is mostly non-smoking now; the eighties when I was law school/ practicing law were really awful.

Well, it's probably not an allergy, since that involves an immune system reaction - white blood cells and all the like. It's probably a sensitivity to such things. Growing up, I was able to tolerate cigarette smoke just fine, but then my dad quit smoking when I was 14, and by the time I was in college, I couldn't tolerate it anymore.
There are people out there who have multiple, severe sensitivities to the substances you named, and because they show up so much in modern life, these people mostly ended up moving to the middle of the desert, only ever using natural substances for clothing and housing and such. Tough life. I hope your sensitivities aren't that bad.

I'm in the same boat - sensitivities to cologne/perfume, cleaning supplies, air fresheners, laundry detergents, cigarette smoke, basically anything with a strong odor! I get headaches, sneezing, itchy and runny eyes and it can be quite miserable. My best defense is just to stay away from that sort of thing. Luckily my co-workers are kind enough to not wear perfume to work, and my boss actually had the cleaning people change their products to a type I could tolerate better. If it's a severe problem, check with your doctor and ask about Flonase. It's not just for allergies, my doc tells me that it often helps people with environmental sensitivities. (Unfortunately, it didn't help me...)
