Cool Aloha! Not new to PCOS, but new here

Hallo, all! Like so many other ladies here, I was a bit surprised to find a forum exclusive to PCOS, although I guess I shouldn't be. (How I found this place anyway is another matter entirely.)

I was diagnosed with PCOS three years ago, right before I turned 18. I had gone through a bunch of tricky operations and many annoying procedures besides before finally being diagnosed with it, and once all was said and done resulting in the diagnosis, I was left feeling pretty crappy. Go figure. I was sent to a specialist who irritated the crap out of me (if she'd paid attention to my allergies, we would have gotten along better), and after a few visits and weird methods, she put me on the med Glucophage, which some of you might be familiar with. After a few months, Glucophage and I decided we could never be friends, and I kicked it to the curb. Ever since, I've been dealing with PCOS on my own. It's annoying, and apparently a bit of a volitile combination with the Intersticial Cystitis w/ Hunner's ulcers that I have as well. I wonder if anyone here has the same kind of issue, or something like it? It'd be neat if someone else could help with ideas to manage it better, although I try hard on my own.

I'll spare everyone all the really gritty details here, because I'm already typing up too much! I plan on reading some blogs and starting up a blog of my own if anyone is interested--I like to ramble in my writings. I would love to recieve and share advice, stories, and 'wisdom' on PCOS with the rest of you! <3

Aww, the specialist that I went to see was actually in Colorado. I've been in the mainland for a while now but want to return to the islands (and stay there!). I wish that I could say that there were PCOS specialists there, but I truly wouldn't know, and I'm sorry. I imagine it'd be great if there were though. I'm sure there has to be somewhere...the trouble is finding said person! Have you asked your obgyn about it?
