Question alopecia anyone???

Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with alopecia (total hair loss) or alopecia areata (partial hair loss)

I have had 2 'episodes' where my hair fell out in clumps about
2 in. in diameter leaving me with a beautiful white scalp until
the hair came back.

Let me know!!

I'm just growing back my third patch of hair now. All three of them were about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

My hair doesn't fall out in patches....but I'm REALLY thin on top. I hate it.

I've decided when it gets too awful bad...I'm going to get wigs of every color, size and shape and wear them like Cher.

Hi-
I've recently acquired two complete bald patches on the back of my head that are not regrowing any hair. Thank God they are underneath where you can't see them. I have already been diagnosed with alopecia areata by my internist. I am waiting to see a dermatologist in early October.
I've been told by my PCOS doctor that it has absolutely nothing to do with the hormones. My gut tells me it has to be connected as mine occured right after my first metformin induced ovulation. But, I guess they know best.
I love the Cher idea!
Nancy

Is this alopecia areata just a coincidence? or a part of PCOS?
Just to let you know, my dermatologist prescribed a cortisone
cream for the bald spots and said it was stress related.
I am not sure if it helped or not, but when my hair grew back in
it was very fine and white (almost transparent)

Just know that you are not the only one with this problem and
that your hair will grow back. In the meantime I had to wear my
hair in a short stubby ponytail and found these great clip on
hair pieces that helped me feel better!!

Take Care!

Do you color or do any other chemical process to your hair? If so, did/do you continue to do them since the bald spots appeared? I color and treat and I am afraid to continue.
Thanks!
Nancy

i found a similar spot a month ago -- w/i 3 weeks of starting metformin -- and went to a dermatologist, who diagnosed me with alopecia areata

both the gynecologist/dermatologist told me there wasn't likely to be a connection -- neither could say much about what i can expect in the coming years

if you're seeing this message, let me know how you have been in the years since!
