Just an FYI- I don't care for artificial sugar and stevia can be nasty sometimes. I use erythritol I get from Emerald Forest. It has 0 calories and tastes like sugar- I mean really tastes like sugar. There are no tummy upsets. The only thing you have to be careful about is the "cooling" effect (like mint cooling, but without the mint flavor) when baking with it.
Isn't erythritol the sugar alcohol that is in Truvia, the new Stevia containing product that I think is made by the Coca Cola Company. I like the taste of Truvia better than stevia - altough I probably use more stevia than Truvia because I am working under the asumption that it might be healthier -- Truvia does not have near the unpleasant aftertaste that stevia does - although the taste is probably not as close to sugar as like equal and splenda -- Truvia has sort of a vanilla quality - that I think is not at all unwelcome in most things I might want to use it in - one exception might be lemonaide.

Wow! I had no idea this came out. It is about time they got on the bandwagon with erythritol. Although, I think the Truvia is more stevia then erythritol. I usually do the opposite. I add a drop or two of concentrated stevia to good amount of erythritol. This is because erythritol is not as sweet as sugar or Stevia and it helps add just the right amount of sweetness. I'm so glad erythritol is being introduced as a sweetner- it rocks.
- I think that they do some sort of a process with the stevia to minimize the aftertaste - someone I think explained in this thread: Truvia - I think part of the process was compared to brewing tea - also I think that Truvia is not the only product of its kind - I think maybe the Pepsi Company has its own brand of the concept and there may be other products of this type as well (???).
