Unhappy Alternative to Metformin

Help!!!????!!!! I am really suffering with side effect from Met (500mg morning & night). If I dont take them, my symptoms (head hair loss, body hair growth, oily skin etc) all get worse. When I do take the Met I feel like I could die. I need to know if there is an alternative remedy to Met? Any one have the some problems as me & have found an alternative??? Help, please.

My Pcos symtoms are not severe, but I have no ovulation or natural periods. Have you heard of hyponidd? The hyponidd is what I take for PCOs instead of Metformin... Check out this....it is proven in clinical studies as effective as Metformin with NO SIDE EFFECTS!!!! http://biogetica.com/clinical_research/hyponidd.pdf scroll to the top of the page, and read the clinical studies of Hyponidd versus Metformin for PCOS. the study is for Insulin Resistant, but Im not sure if I have insulin resistance according to the tests, and I have lost 7 lbs this week and hardly any cravings. I the hyponidd 30 min before meals on an empty stomach.

There is a thread below this one about the hyponidd ..."study proven effective as Metformin..." or something like that!

I can't get Hyponidd from (or to) here where I live. I'm planning to buy just product that has only Gymnema Sylvestre in it and give it a try.

Could somebody be so kind and check how much Hyponidd has Gymnema Sylvestre in it, please? Gymnema Sylvestre-product I'm going to get has 400mg in it.

Miss Behave there is another product called Dianex / Diabecon or something. I think you can get them on EBAY

1 Hyponidd tablet contains:

Yashad Bhasma >>>> 37.5 mg
>>>> Purified asphaltum 37.5 mg
Karavellaka Momordica charantia 12 mg
Extracts derived from
Haridra Curcuma longa 300 mg
Tarwar Cassia auriculata 225 mg
Amalaki Emblica officinalis 150 mg
Raja Jambu Eugenia jambolana 150 mg
Mamejavo Enicostemma littorale 112.5 mg
Meshashringi Gymnema sylvestre 112.5 mg
Vijaysaar Pterocarpus marsupium 75 mg
Guduchi Tinospora cordifolia 75 mg
Neem Melia azadirachta 75 mg
Kirat Tikta Swertia chirata 12 mg

So 112.5mg x 4 tablets a day taken = 450mg gymnema sylvestre per day

How long have you been taking this? I have mild symptoms as well and am not IR. I was on Metformin a few years ago, but the side effects did not equal the benefits in my case. I would like to find something with the benefits but not the horrible side effects.

I can't take met either, so I just started taking cinnamon and apple cider vinegar to control my blood sugar!

Met did nothing good for me, ever, and the side effects were hellacious. I did d-chiro-inositol instead and straightened out and got bfp. see
www.chiralbalance.com for info & sales. I did 600 mg (one cap).

With anything, even herbal, you have to build it up slowly. Otherwise there are side effects.

I am on hyponidd, 2 twice a day, and d chiro inositol 1200mg.

My pcos is very severe - no AF, beard, balding, acne, overweight, cant lose weight, chest hair, depression, feeling awful after eating sugar, no ovulation, mood swings, glucose intollerant (IR).

I started off with 1200mg D chiro inositol and immediately lost weight and acne and depression cleared up. Still hairy. Get to 145lbs and cant lose weight. I added 1 tablet of hyponidd twice a day, and was feeling very shakey, nauseas and hypoglycemic. Figured this was too much for me so I went down to half a tablet twice a day. Gradually worked my way up with 1 tablet extra per week. Now 4 weeks later, I have worked my way up to the normal hyponidd dosage of 2 tablets twice a day with 1200mg of d chiro inositol. Now I feel just fine. Better than fine. All of the tiredness, hypoglycemia has gone, as long as I eat on time. When the D chiro inositol runs out (its very very expensive!) I will take 1500mg cinnamon with 2 hyponidd twice a day. I have had a 39 day cycle but did not ovulate.

Do you think that this is a good sign? Before Id go 6 months before a bleed.

Im not currently TTC but hope to start ovulating soon. I think I may need a very high dosage of insulin sensitising drugs as my PCOS is very bad. 2 hyponidd twice a day is equivalent to around 1400mg metformin. This isnt enough for me, but with the added d chiro inositol I have seen some good changes.

The key is to work up slowly and bear with the side effects (hyponidd has side effects similar to metformin when it comes to tiredness and hypo glycemia episodes if starving hungry or if you have taken too many)

However, there are no GI side effects such as diahorea or nausea, and to be honest, I couldnt be dealing with those things. I get very anxious when I feel sick or have tummy pains. One more good thing is my depression has gone too. Now to lose weight and ovulate!

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone is taking Hyponidd AND having bad side effects? Pearl, you mentioned how you were feeling nauseous when you first started it. I started taking 3 pills a day (one at each meal), and I feel so sick. I started by taking it before my meal with water, but that wasn't making me feel good, so then I started taking it after the meal with my other supplements. Well, that didn't help either. I'm not sure what to do. I didn't have this problem with Met. Don't know why. Do you think that I'm not having any side effects with Met that I should switch back to that? I don't trust my endo completely...if I go to her, who knows what she'll tell me.

Thoughts anyone?
