I would be interested to know which alernative items some of you think might be, or better yet, you have actually found to be helpful for weight loss (even modest weight loss) for you. I would also be interested in things that might improvement insulin and androgen levels and energy and the way you feel genereally.
I found a lot of very interesting information on suppliments on MaryKate's very good website:

I have also found a lot of really interesing things here on the Soul Cycters' boards about D-Chiro-Inositol (and things that contain D-Chiro-Inositol or can be converted into D-Chiro-Inositol) and about NAC - (just not as much specific info on how these might impact weight as I had hoped). I have also been experimenting some with cinnamon and just started with the NAC and being better about taking vitamins. I hope to sort of get taking suppliment down to a routine and get a better idea of things that might be good to include.
I think that the info on Saw Palmetto and the Insulite product (which seems to contain Saw palmetto)
http://pcos.insulitelabs.com was interesting too - although perhaps not for me since if I understand correctly saw palmetto might be one of those that is hard to know if it is okay to take with other things especially RX. I think someone might have said Insulite was helpful for them for some weight loss and I can't remember if the subject even came up with Saw Palmetto.
I would also like to know about things that might possibiliy help with appetite.
