Any estrogen at all will interact with your thyroid. (Soy contains phytoestrogens or plant estrogens.) Soy is bad essentially because it has more hormone impact than just the estrogenic, and it can block natural hormones from getting through. (Not just estrogen, other things too.)
Did you find that it actually DID trigger ovulation?

You could try doing some research about Chaste tree berry tincture.
I'm always telling people that I could not concieve without pergonal until I was low carbing, taking metformin and Chate tree berry tincture cycle day 10 thru 25 or so.
Chaste tree-if I understand right helps the pituitary and the hypothalimus communicate.
I tried to tell my OB/GYN that this is a wonder drug for pcos but he didn't even take the time to listen, even though I was a 44 year old woman with a long history of infertility and there I was pregnant. Good Luck

A little girl was born in December 2003--what a blessing.
Wow! that article is eye opener. I consume soymilk and soy burger eveyday and ofcourse I am hypothyroid. No wonder I retain water like anything and gain weight by even low carbing. Thanks, for posting the link.
1) Has anyone been to a licensed certifi/herbalogist and changed to a natural alternative to what the medical industry has issured us who are hypothyroid?
I would like to change to a natural alternative..
2) I would like to have children sometime in the next yr or so, what are we to do when taking levothyroxine and or hypothyroid medications?
I was watching a program where this woman who was hypo went off her meds to have a child.. (this really threw her for a loop for the 9 months) Is this true that we should stop or have to stop in order to have a baby, and if not.. If one does get pregnant and takes the meds, how will the affect the child?
I could ask my endo, but thought to just ask here first since I'm in the middle of the thinking period.
You should not stop thyroid medication when you are pregnant or nursing. Thyroid medication is nothing more than the same hormones your body should be producing on its own, and as such will not harm your baby at all. The exact opposite is true- without proper medication, the fetus is in danger especially during early pregnancy when it makes no thyroid of its own, and depends on yours for proper development. Studies have shown that children born to mothers with untreated thyroid disease can/will have any number of problems ranging from low IQ to congenital hypothyroidism (no thyroid).
It is very important to be properly medicated while pregnant.
Armour thyroid is a natural alternative. It is made from pig's dessicated thyroid glands. The glands are taken from pigs that are already being slaughtered for meat, so no pigs are killed just for your thyroid medication- they are already going to be killed anyway. I see a naturopath as my regular doctor and she prescribes my armour. Armour contains T3 + T4 in natural concentrations although the ratio is sometimes off for some people.
There are other natural thyroid meds such as bio-thyroid and so forth but it depends on where you are (US, UK etc) and what your pharmacies will do for you.

What about for us who are not pregnant? I am not, but would like to know if there is a natural alternative.. I prefer not to take on more pills made from pig fixings
There is _no_ natural alternative that is _not_ some type of thyroid hormone formulation. The _only_ way to replace what your body is not making on its own is to take medication for it. There are no herbs or minerals that can help you with this particular problem.

What I am asking is... Is there a non pig derived hypothyroid medicaton.
As that page explains, all natural thyroid drugs are made from pigs. You either have to use the synthetic, lab-created drugs, or the natural ones made from pigs.
