For me vitamin D has made a whooping difference. My endo tested my parathyroid and my levels were like 13 and the lowest I think they will say is okay is 30. It is very common among PCOSers and it was just a simple blood test. My gyno didn't know anything about testing. It took about 3 weeks to see a difference. During that time I took, 50,000 yes 50,000 IU once a week and still am and I have much more energy. I am a grad student. If you don't want to get a script I believe the safe Upper limit intakes for vitamin D is 5,000 a day. Giving you at least 35,000 IU a week.

Vitamin D deficiency, anyone????

I can't find the other thread I posted to about it before but in this link, there is a link to Dr.Weil and his vitamin D theory. Take care!

I have the same problem too only on top of it lately I am having trouble sleeping. I am chalking it up to my work schedule changing but I don't know. I just started taking a lot of supplements a week ago including vit D3 but I'm only taking 2000 IU, I thought that was the safe dose. I may up it! 35000 IU sounds like a crazy lot! But your levels were very low. I hope that is my problem too and I will start to see changes soon. I NEVER want to go out with family or friends either especially on a weeknight. Weeknights are out for me! If I have to work, that is all I can stand because my job is very physically demanding sometimes anyway. I'm on a low carb diet and taking lots of supps that hopefully will give me energy. I actually have just weaned myself off of caffeine and I'm hoping it helps too. I think I was drinking too much and not sleeping well.

Good luck to us all! It sucks to never want to do anything but SLEEP! I feel like a loser. lol

I also had this problem. After several tests, I was also diagnosed with extremely low B12 and a thyroid problem. You can buy over the counter b12 pills which may help. I have to get shots every week as well as take the vitamin. My thyroid was also a cause of this. Me and my doc are still working on it. I struggle to get through the day. It is very hard for me.

I am always tired as well, it comes and goes though, as with anything with pcos some times it is more prevelant with added stress or maybe there has been a flux in your hormone level as too much estrogen will wear you out

I keep telling my doctors ALL OF THEM that I am more tired then usual but they tell me to just lose weight. I think I am goin gto ask about the vit D. Good thread!!

I go in for a sleep study Oct. 1, and they are doing a battery of tests on Oct. 2. I hope I feel better soon. Everyone thinks I'm a homebody because I don't go out... I'm just too tired.

If you do have sleep apnea the machine will do a world of good for you. It worked great for me! I didn't realize how bad I was sleeping. It takes a while to get used to wearing but it is sooooo worth it. I know what you mean about thehomebody issue. I am like that too. And I am sicka nd tired of people not understanding around me. But oh well I am pretty content and happy so if they can not understand that's their problem. Nothing I can do. I hope you feel better and good luck with the tests! :-)

I just started taking D-Chiro Inositol. I have noticed too many effects yet, but the ladies on the "D-chiro Inositol, WOW!" thread swear that they have unbelievable energy. I have noticed a small change. I have also started taking vitamins though. It usually helps a little to drink more water.

Good that some of you found somethings that are starting to work for you! My doctor does not take me serious that being "tired" is a serious quality of life impairment. I will try the vitamin D, and let you know how that goes. Thanks for the advice!

Well, I went to the doctor today and told her that I have continued gaining weight with Metformin. She asked if I was tired and I explained that it is the bain of my existence. She took me off Metformin and said it was time to do a thyroid test. Sweet, two problems are better than one!

Ugh, I am always tired too...and people really think I'm lazy. I swear, I am NOT a lazy person...I love to get up and go, go, go...but there are times when I literally do not have the energy to lift a finger. I have an appointment with my endo soon, so hopefully when I tell him about my tiredness he'll be able to recommend something. My psychiatrist put me on Provigil for being constantly tired (it is used to people with narcalepsy) but since I've been on it for about 2 years, I can't seem to GET OFF of it. I don't want to be dependent on a "pill" to keep me awake through the day...Oy...atleast there are others in the same boat!

I have always been told it was because of my low iron. Huh, now I will have to ask my Dr. when I see her next week about my IR and Vit. D. I am guessing this probably plays a role in it too b/c I have been extremely tired lately.

I LOVE DCI!!! It gave me so much more energy! To just think about exercising doesn't wear me out any more, actually exercising doesn't kick my trash too bad either...just kinda. lol
I have sleep apnea too but for the life of me couldn't get used to the mask. I tried for months but I just couldn't leave it on longer than a couple hours. grrr but just that much did help a bit.

Does anyone else feel bad for suggesting things to your dr? Mine always looks at me like "Who is the dr again?" and I feel bad for suggesting things..BUT, I do have this problem. I have tried everything, diet pills, energy drinks, cold showers...nothing helps. I literally sleep 10-12 hours a day! UGH, add this problem to the PCOS symptom list
