Question Am I diabetic??

I am confused!
I was diagnosed with PCOS last june and have since been rigorously following a strict low carb diet and exercising at least 4 times a week. I have noticed it has helped my energy levels and skin, but my nutritionist wants me to lower my body fat from 23% to 18% and increase muscle as this will help with my insulin resistance. The thing is, I have been doing this since november and the ratios are exactly the same at every check-up since. She says this must mean I am highly insulin resistant. I have never been tested for diabetes since the doctor says I can't have it because I am not overweight. But I am now wondering whether I may have type II. I am tired a lot of the time, need the toilet during the night and get recurrent yeast infections, not to mention intense sugar cravings which I sometimes give in to and am then fatigued. Should I be insisting I am tested?

Hello, Susan!! I would insist on diabetic testing. It is a fairly east test that could determine if you are diabetic in such a short time. It can't hurt a thing and could change your life. My dr. also said he saw no sense in me being tested. I was just too young, but I insisted because of such a strong family history. Well I was diagnosed a diabetic last week and can tell the difference in my life in just a week.
May God Bless!!

Susan, i would agree with Annabelle. Insist on them testing you.
Unfortunately sometimes you have to be pushy, i too had strong family history of diabetes. (i was diagnosed finally 6 years ago) I had to change surgery's to get tested.

Persevere with it.

Good luck!
