Hiya,

We all have hair everywhere on our bodies, just most of it is too thin to be noticed, also most women actually have facial hair, just again it's too light and thin to be noticed.. If you haven't got bad facial hair now then I doubt it'll suddenly grow, but if you're paranoid about it you will probably notice it more than anyone else!

I'm not sure if there's anything to prevent it but if you take supplements that balance out hormones it might help, although most of my friends who don't have pcos have some, unnoticable facial hair.. if it really bugs you i'd go talk to your doc!
Good luck
x

i talked 2 m doc about it, n asked her 2 prescribe spironolactone since it reduces facial hair, if i start to take it now, my facial hair wont grow, and there is a good probablity that my body can develop a tendency towards thick hair cause of pcos but m doc said that m too young to understand stuff n shes really stubborn too, never listens to me
can u tell me which supplements balance hormones? and do all pcos sufferers have facial hair?

I took spironolactone. I still grew facial hair, it just grew slightly slower. But I still needed to remove it weekly. I joined insulite labs pcos system after dealing with muscle twiches and other side effects from spironolactone. I know that Birth control can help out, but there is also natural supplements. Some women try drinking spearmint tea, this is basically very similiar to spironolactone only without all the harsh side effects. But you have to drink it twice daily hot and brewed. So That can get annoying to keep up with. You can also try natural supplements such as: flax seed, saw palmetto berry extract, Nettle root, Milk Thistle Seed extract, Chaste Tree Berry Extract. These seem to be good for balancing out hormones. The insulite labs pcos system has all these in one conveinant bottle, but it costs alot. Hope this helps you out.

There are some supplements that can balance hormones and are generally good for pcos, evening primrose oil, star flower, milk thistle and agnus cactus.. there's so many of them you could do a little research online or go to a health food shop, i take evening primrose oil..

I started taking spiro after I got the whole facial hair thing. I ended up having much more after starting spiro. Which was scary bc its suppossed to prevent it not make it worse. Luckily its light. I think I had an adverse reaction though. This doesnt happen to everyone. They sometimes put women on spiro after pcos dig. to prevent the facial hair, and when someone already has it, it helps it grow slower and lighter after 6 months as I was told. If you do try spiro, just be careful bc you can get dehydrated so easily on it. I ended up in the ER more than once with severe dehydration from it. And I got twitches on it, I am sure it had a connection with the dehyradtion. I also felt horrible on it. Not everyone gets these results. I was on 100mg per day, then upped to 200mg per day. Now as for your original question. NO, not every woman with pcos grows facial hair. Usually being overweight makes it much worse. I had pcos for yrs and didnt grow facial hair until suddenly stopping the birth control pill..yaz. aka yasmin. which set off a hormone inbalance. I can only recommend to exercise on a reg. basis and keeping your weight down by itself may prevent it from getting bad to the point where you have facial hair. This is most important.
