OK. Here I am on my first week of Desogen and I feel awful. Dizzy, nauseous, tired, more moody than usual (which is saying alot), muscle pains, joint pain, feeling weak all over, bloodshot eyes, headaches, and feeling really hungry (but not a nice healthy hunger, it's more like the intense cravings for food that I used to feel when I was at my heaviest weight). I hated being on Yasmin too, and I had a lot of the same problems.
Is it possible that the pill just doesn't agree with me or should I just wait out the side effects? I can't keep switching prescriptions since I don't have many non-androgenic pill choices left!
A week is not nearly enough time to let your body adjust. If the side effects are absolutely debilitating, you should probably tell your doctor but otherwise, give it a little more time to see if the side effects lessen.
There are many, many, many brands and formulas of BCPs. Try another brand if you want to stay on BCPs but can't handle Yasmin or Desogen.

Thanks Navi. I just read the sticky at the top of this forum about choosing pills, and of course you're absolutely right, there are a lot of other good choices.
I think the mood changes are the most difficult to deal with, that's probably why my original post was so overly dramatic!
My first week on Desogen I was a nut case, and it never improved. With any pills. Granted, I haven't done YAZ or Loestrin, they weren't out back then. I started Nuvaring several days ago and so far so good.

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.
I agree with Navi a week isn't long enough, but if the side effects continue I would try something else. It's just finding the one that works for you, it can be very frustrating.
