Default Am I the only one

Who doesn't have any side effects or food issues while on the highest dose of Met? I keep reading that people have issues when they eat certain things, and I don't ever! Believe me, it's not always a good thing that I can eat anything and everything and not get sick. The scale tells the story!

First month or so wasn't pretty...but now I'm fine. I often see posts from women who can't take it because the s/e are so horrible..mine were never THAT bad.

I've really not had many problems either. I can count on one hand the number of times I've have the metformin trots... and it was all at the beginning and nearly always from eating mac and cheese. Believe me, I also don't benefit much from being able to eat anything!

I was surprised at all the posts that complained of S/E because i really didn't have any except for a few days. I do however seem to get sick when I eat salad. I don't really know why.

I don't get sick when I eat salad, I LOVE salad! But I never use iceburg lettuce, so maybe that's why?

I only had the s/e for the 1st 3 weeks or so. Since then, I can eat anything I want and not get sick. I agree, it's not a good thing. I'd do better (weight management wise) if I couldn't eat the bad stuff.

I've been on it for just over a month. I've had no sickness, a bit of nausea but def no vomiting. I've had a couple of incidences of soft stools (sorry TMI) but no diarrhoea. I've had IBS before so maybe that's why I'm not being affected by it so much.

Besides about a week of the feeling of slight nausea and exhaustion I havent had a single S/E. I eat iceberg lettuce and salad most days. I have a cast iron stomach but it would be a nice little reminder to pull in the reins a bit if I did get a little nausea if I ate over the top carbs etc.

Met was a nightmare for me, but I have a friend who had like one day of stomach issues and she was fine. I'm so jealous of her. Glad it's not causing you the terrible side effects. Trust me, I'd rather gain weight than worship the porcelain god all the time.

I don't have any problem with it. Not even early on.

I just started 6 days ago at 500mg. No S/E's at all. I'm hoping that's not an indicator of weight loss. For me getting the weight off is my high priority right now. I work out so I'm hoping!

I'll go up to 1,00mg starting tomorrow. anyone have trouble losing weight/no side effects???

I have been on met 1000 mg since July '05. I just found out recently i was taking incorrectly. I was taking it at one time with my supper then going to bed. Well, as of 10-8-05 I have been taking1 with breakfast, one with lunch. I don't think it would make a difference. I never hd nausea before with it. Now I have had a headache off and on every day for a little over a week and nausea every night for little over a week. It starts around 4 and lasts until I go to bed. I wake up the next day and feel great. I have some bloating also. Could it be the met doing this or could I be pregnant?

I had one or two days of stomach issues, then took Immodium A/D and was fine. I could eat anything on Met - salad, Mexican food, whatever. I did notice that when I drank alcohol, i got buzzed MUCH faster, and once when I had too many drinks with no food in my tummy, then took a Met pill, i spent the rest of the evening in the restroom - I was on a business trip at the time! Thank goodness i had my own hotel room!
