Default Am I taking too much..are vitamins/supplements safe?

Hi Ladies!

So I have finally made the decision to come off of the birth control pill after being on it off and on for about 4 years. I am terrified, scared, anxious and fearful as to what I will experience. I'm on the week off my pills so I should be starting a new pack on Sunday, but I'm not. I am scared the acne will return, the hair thinning/loss with get worse...and overall what will happen.
I am under the care of a naturopathic doctor and here is a list of thins I am taking:
Vitex 80mg 2x in am
Saw Palmetto 160mg 2x daily
Cal-Mag 2x daily
Vitamin C 2x daily
Iron 2x daily
Nutra sea omega 3 oil 1 tsp daily
Silicea 1 tsp daily
Vitamin B Complex

Is this too much? Also, I know that naturopaths and people at health food stores say that there are no side effects or anything with vitamins and supplements....is that entirely true? I want to make sure that what I am doing is safe!

Thanks!

Of course there are side effects to vitamins and supplements. Everything has the potential for side effects...even the foods we eat. That said, calcium, magnesium, iron, and B would/should all be in any multi-vitamin you'd take, so if you'd be comfortable taking a multi, you should feel fine with most of what you've got on your list. Vitex works gently and over time, so that's fine, too. Saw palmetto is supposed to reduce DHT, and should help with the effects of excess androgens. Personally, I am not taking saw palmetto while I am TTC, but that's a choice one has to make for themselves. Everyone should take omega-3, so I also would not worry about that at all. Just make sure that the fish oil you're taking is free from heavy metals and other toxins that may be present in fish.

I take like...three times as many supplements as you do. It really is a personal thing. I am happy with the vitamins, herbs, and minerals I take. If you feel like you are taking too many individual pills, you can try to find a multi that contains more than one of those, but I really like taking a separate B complex, myself.
