Hi all,

Anyone here know of a good gyn in Anchorage, AK? I have an endocrinologist but he is not much into treating my PCOS since I'm not overweight and not "typical" in that I do AF on a fairly regular basis. Hormone levels are out of whack, though, and I have enlarged ovaries w/ many cysts-- Not to mention chronic pelvic pain, acne, some hair issues.

My gyn doesn't seem very knowledgeable about PCOS, and I'm not sure he's really the greatest anyway.

Anybody have suggestions?

Joy Zimmerman (907) 246-2333 is my doc. She is very attentive, and wonderful. Whether your ttc or just for an annual exam.

I would also recommend the Alaska Women's Health Services Inc. (907) 563-7228 (in case your insurance doesn't cover Joy)

I love Sandra Clapper. Her and Joy Zimmerman are partners; here's their website http://jgolden.salu.net/. Both are nurse practioners that are very knowledgeable about PCOS. Sandy goes the extra mile for me and I've always felt comfortable with her. I've seen another doctor in Anchorage and although she was professional she wasn't as caring and personable as Sandy. Sandy calls me after hours or on weekends so I don't have to take such personal calls at work. I think that Joy does the same.

Thanks so much for the suggestions, gals. I am headed out of state for surgery (unrelated to the PCOS), but need to find someone when I get back. I will definitely look into your suggestions.
