Angry Hi Deeds!

Thanks for asking. My app was horrible. I didn't got the metformin
The doctor was rude. According to her,PCOS is not serious, lots of women have it and there is nothing to worry about. She also said that she only prescribes the met if you're ttc and she asked me what I was thinking when I asked for a referral in the hospital. I said that I didn't asked for the met, that my GP suggested that and she was surpised by that. She said the my GP shouldn't have done that because it's dangerous for someone who is not diabetic to get the met.
But,she didn't really answer any of my questions. I asked her is it true that PCOS can lead to ovarian cancer and she said : Who told you that? You see,my grandma had PCOS and she has ovarian cancer,my aunt has it so I wanted to know. Then I said that some doctors prescribe the metformin even if you're not ttc and she said :Who told you that? She was saying that all the time. I'm so dissapointed and upset. She told me to go back for a scan in 10 weeks time.
But I'm going to my GP asap and ask for another referal. Thanks for asking Deeds. Now I feel a little bit better. It's very nice when you can talk to someone who understands you

Love
Angela

(((((((((((((((((Angela)))))))))))))))
I'm so sorry you had such a rotten experience. It makes me really mad to read what she said, so I can only imagine that you are livid! Sometimes I wonder with women doctors, you'd think they would be more sympathetic. What does she want - your symptoms to worsen so that if you do ttc it's that much harder?

I'm glad you're going back to your gp, maybe he/she could find out if a consultant is willing to prescribe met before referring you so you don't waste your time on stupid doctors, or endure the stress of a negative appointment again.

There, that's my rant on your behalf!

I'm also really sorry to hear about your Grandma - I can't believe your doc wouldn't address your concerns when you have this illness so close to you.

Well best of luck with getting a new referral and let us know how you get on.
Love
Deeds

Angela,

Please, please do not give up ... you deserve a referral and all of your fears are valid ... ooooh it makes me mad

Below is a link to consultants in the UK, it has been a God save! I even managed to find my RE's email address and everytime I receive bad treatment from him or his department I fire off another email They love me!

Just repeat to yourself "I deserve to be treated with respect"

Let us know how you get on!

Thank you Lisa and Deeds! Deeds, cheers for the rant on my behalf
I'm not giving up. I know that there are lots of cysters who want to get the met because they're ttc but I have right to be treated, don't I? I mean,I'm so confused. They say PCOS runs in the family. I think I got it from the both sides of the family. My grandma (my dad's mum) and my mum. My mum was never diagnosed with PCOS but now I think she has it. She had 2 m/c,acne,facial hair, weight gain...The doc yesterday said there isn't any connection
She maid me feel so stupid yesterday. I told her that most of the informations I read in the " Hidden epidemic" book but she said to me not to believe in everything I read
Anyway,I'm not seeing her again but I'm not giving up though.
Lisa, thanks for the info,I'm going to take a look at it now. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for listening. I'm not sure if you know,I'm Macedonian,I"m here all by myself so this site it's like a second home to me. I'm getting all the support and hope. And please be patient with my english...

Love
Angela

Ooooh some doctors make me soooo mad, you can't believe everything you read what nonsense!!! I'm glad you're not giving up Angela, some doctor out there will sympathise with you and get the treatment you need. Once I'd been diagnosed I kept going back to my doctor and she kept telling me I don't have it any more so what's the problem grrrrr. Then I went about a year and a half/2 years ago armed with info about met and it said some docs in the UK are giving it to PCOS suffers and she wouldn't even look at the info, and refused to give it to me. Keep the faith Angela, we're all hoping for you and I'm sure I'm not alone in sending you loads of positive thoughts and loads of hugs.

Hi Angela
Of course you have the right to be treated, as does everyone with PCOS - ttc or not. It sounds like your doctor hasn't bothered to keep up to speed with developments in the treatment of PCOS as views it solely as a ttc issue.

Anz, doesn't that make you so mad if people think because you have researched something yourself that you only listen to charlatans?

Anyway, best of luck Angela, and can I jut say your English is excellent, I would never have known it wasn't your first language. I spent a year living abroad on my own and I know it's hard to settle in, I 'm glad you've joined in this little UK community!!

Love

Angry Stick to your guns Angela!!!

I'm a bit late entering your thread but I am so appalled by the shabby treatment you have received at the hands of your doctor. I would definitely demand a second opinion and be firing off a complaint to the local health authority at the same time.

I hope you get the treatment you are entitled to.

All the best

xx
