Question Another Clomid question

We have finished 6 rounds of clomid with no success. My gyn wants us to come back in a "couple months time" to start again on a higher dosage. Did anyone else take this break, and if so, how long off did you take? I hate to call the gyn's office just to ask when I can come back and start all over again. Thanks so much for the help!

My dr wanted me to take a break, but I was insistent and she tried something new, and I'm pg. I was on clomid for 5 months, month 4 and 5 I was on the max dose of 200mg. She also had me on met for 5 months prior, plus I got pg on the 200mg clomid, one repronex shot, one HCG shot, and IUI. It would have killed us to stop for a while, it took 16 months to get pg. If the dosage or types of meds aren't working for you the dr needs to try something new. My dr saved us lots of money with the hybrid protocol method. It was about half the price of what injections would be.

I was on the lowest dose possible 50mg for the entire 6 rounds. If I read correctly, my insurance will cover the injectibles, but I am not sure that I will be able to stay with my regular gyn. She consults with the infertility specialists in the same practice. Thanks for the help. We've been trying for 18 months also and it really does make it hard.

If you've been on the lowest dose of clomid for 6 months it's time to up it, or change dr. if you haven't been ovulating or having follicles. I've heard you should never be on the same dose of clomid for more than 6 months because its obviously not working. My dr upped my doses each month! But that was no follicles. You may have some. On 150mg I had follicles, but still not pg, so I topped at 200. Keep on the doctors! I know how hard it is to try forever!!

Did you have any bloodwork that confirmed that you o'd? And also are you taking met too? Met akes a huge difference for us with pcos and when combine with clomid works for many of us. If you are on clomid and jusr recently started then a few months off will probably do the trick when you go back and add the clomid. If you cannot wait then you may have to go another route but for now the tries with clomid have been exhausted. If you want to go back on it then a break is needed.
