This is great board. Just found it this weekend, sinc eI was just told I probably have this on Friday! I am amazed because until friday I had never ever heard of this problem, and there are obviously so many just on this boad. Now I am kind of freaking out.

I hope for your husband's safe return and please thank him for his service to our country. It must be diffucult for you to go through this without him around all the time.
I posted under the "do yo uhave this problem" thread also sicne I am a little uncertain of the diagnosis, though something is definitely wrong. Diagnosis is primarliy based on LH/FSH ration of aout 2.8, and missed periods the last three mos - I am 34 and never had a problem before, very weird.
Welcome to soul cysters. I agree with Emily, don't let the stress of wondering if you have PCOS get to you. If it gets to bad just get out of the house and go for a walk. Walking is a good stress reliever and its good for you as a bonus!
Thank you so much for thinking about my DH. It has been hard but I know that each day is one day closer to him getting home. I miss him but when he gets back it will be like a second honeymoon for us.
PCOS effects everyone so differently. I have had this problem since I started my period in 5th grade. My junior year in high school I gained 50lbs in one year. It took two sperate GYN to dx. me, although at the time I wasn't looking for a dx. I am happy that I found out b/c it will hopefully make TTC a little easier.
So is your GYN doing BW? are they going to do a US? Do you have any children?
Sorry if I seem nosey.
Love,
Emily

Hello there and Welcome to SC!
I am so glad that you have joined us.
This is a wonderful site and the ladies here are a great source of info and support.
Good Luck!
Welcome hun! I know that freaking out feeling, it helps a lot just to be here among your cysters who understand!
Do you have other PCOS symptoms? I was diagnosed based mostly on my symptoms (weight gain, hair loss, dark patches~AN, irregular heavy periods, depression) Also I had an ultrasound and blood tests.
Hang in there cyster, we are here for you.
Hugs
Jenny

I'm glad you found us. It can be overwhelming, but like Emily said, just breathe, and everything will be ok. You have a community of cysters here who have been where you are and are at different stages, so we can help. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm a great listener and a great talker, you can pm me anytime!
Welcome! I know many have said this already, but we all completely understand how you're feeling. But this board is the best thing that happened to me. I have found such and unbelievable outpouring of support from everyone here. Within days you will feel a bond and connection with all the cysters you talk to. They are all so wonderful. And not to play favorites, but Emily and Jenny-those two have listened to every tiny little concern of mine and provided advice and thoughts. They're not kidding when they invite you to PM them anytime about anything...they really mean it. They have both been wonderful to me, and more than I could ask for. I extend the same offer to you, if you ever have a concern, need to vent or want to laugh...I'm here!
So again-welcome cyster!
Sarah

Thanks for all of the welcomes. You guys are great and this truly is an amzing board. What a nice support group.
Honestly, I am not certain that I have this - though something is up, but I need more to confirm. I think my ob/gyn may have jumped to a possible conclusion without enough, which is on its own frustrating, given the seriousness of this problem.
A little about my history - I was not actively ttc, but was ready to not avoid it. Lo and behold, period stops. I am getting older too - 34 now. So now that I have something strange going on, I wil be proactivewith ttc.
My LH/FSH ratio is consistent with PCOS, but I have no other problems. T is normal. I never had missed before, even during time spans of years off bcp. I have never been overwieght or had blood sugar insulin type problems. My impression is that most women develop this early in life.
I do have some acne, but always thought it was merely the common kind of adult acne. Also, this summer (prior to even hearing about pcos) I started thinkning my hair was thinning on top.
Anyhoo, for the moment, I am taking prometrium for 14 days to hopefully start my period - I think it is making me feel like I have PMS. After that, I'll continue to pursue this and try to figure out what is going on.
I should mention, I am a little hyperthyroid because I take a suppressive does of thyroid hormone. I have to do that becasue I ahd thyroid cancer (3X) and it helps supress another recurrence. This also can cause missed periods, among other things, and I am working with my doctor to reduce the dose to see if that helps. Hopefully I will be able to pin down the problem soon.
