A bit of background - hemorrhaged at age 16, they did several ultrasounds, threw me on birth control & called it a hormone imbalance. Here I am at 33, no children, been on birth control off & on for years.
Went for my pap in May, discussed the excess facial hair, tenderness in my sides, lack of periods, etc. Bloodwork came back that my testosterone is high & the pap came back abnormal.
Went for a transvaginal ultrasound a couple days later - no cysts.
Had a colposcopy done in June, positive for HPV on the cervix, but the canal is fine. Going for cryosurgery July 18th.
Went to my regular doctor last week, discussed PCOS again - started on glucophage, prenatal vitamins. Glucophage had an immediate reaction on my stomach, so right now I'm taking half a pill a couple times a day, supposed to work up to 3 whole pills a day - might take a while for that one!
Now that all of this is going on with me, I find out that my mom had to have cryo done, my aunt as well...my sister-in-law had it done 3 times, also had a hysterectomy at age 32. My aunt (mom's sister, 46) is having a hysterectomy done on Tuesday (the day before my cryo).
Now, my lineage as far as childbirth? My maternal grandmother had 7 children (and 2 miscarriages), my mother has 2, my aunt has 2, my other aunt has 1...doesn't seem to be any problem for them.
I know I'm rambling, but so much is going through my mind. My aunt that's having the hysterectomy happens to work right outside my office....normally she's the first one I talk too...but my issues seem to pale in comparison to her impending surgery.
I had cryo done several years ago. And the next damn pap came back abnormal! For some unknown reason, mine come back abnormal every other year. I follow all the recommendations for scheduling it(not near AF, no sex 72hrs before, etc) so I have no idea why this is happening, but after cryo, I said "forget it!" "Don't bother me til it comes back more serious than "low grade squamous cells" Probably not the safest approach, but I have a looong family history of PCOS, and other repro type problems and I am tired of being poked, prodded, scraped, frozen and all that other crap.
I recommend headphones or a book for the cryo procedure. It goes much better if you something else to focus on. Hope all goes well.

Wow..never thought of a book or headphones....much appreciated!!! I went by myself for the colposcopy & had nothing but dots on the ceiling tiles to look at.
Unfortunately, mine came back as high-grade squamous cells...
