Default Another Newbie!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say hello and let everyone know that I'm new to all of this.
I was diagnosed about 2 months ago and have been doing tons of research online. While I love my doctor, she really has not answered all of my questions about her diagnosis and basically sent me home with Yasmin which ruined my life for about 2 months! I have since stopped taking the pill and have made an appointment with a new OBGYN. I really want a second opinion and some more solutions. I have quite a few symptoms........ although, my doctor did blood work for my insulin which came back normal, but I don't agree. It was a 12 hour fast and no glucose test. I know that insulin resistance is common with PCOS, is it necessary that I get tested again? I am so confused as to what steps to take, but hope that you all can help!?! any advice would be great!!

Looking forward to many conversations,
Jessica

Hi Jessica,
The initial diagnosis is the most confusing time. You will find a ton of information on this site as well as lots and lots of helpful women where there will always be someone who can relate and understand anything you are feeling. You are already doing a great thing by finding a new doctor as some doctors are more PCOS knowledgeable than others. If your new doctor wants to try BCPs (birth control pills) to help with some of your symptoms don't be too scared off by the Yasmin experience. There are many different types of BCPs and plenty of women do better one on kind or another. You may have to try a few different ones until you find one that works best for you. Welcome to the boards and always ask away with any questions you might have!!
