Another Newbie I was just diagnosed on Tuesday as having PCOS and insulin resistance. I found this site while looking for information about it. I just wanted to introduce myself.
I'm 29, and my husband and I had been trying to conceive for 8 months before I was diagnosed. I've had a hard time emotionally with the diagnosis, between being scared that I won't be able to conceive, to angry about my primary doctor never listening to me when I said I couldn't lose weight. Now that I've been diagnosed and looking at all the symptoms it makes so much sense.
I've always been overweight, and it's always been around my stomach. I've always had dark skin under my arms. I have high blood pressure. I can't seem to lose weight. I've always struggled with oily skin and acne. I've always had irregular cycles, and my former OBGYN sent me to get an ultrasound and said I had cysts on my ovaries several years ago. But it wasn't until I came to this OBGYN that any doctor ever suggested to me that something else was causing my weight problems, instead of the weight causing the other problems. |
