I myself have been reading the IR diet book and have also been online looking for info regarding it. Here is info I found at

"The Insulin Resistance Diet
An insulin resistance diet is high in dietary fiber and complex carbohydrates. Food choices center around fruit, whole grains and vegetables. The goal is to reduce the high processed sugar levels found in common foods, including processed carbohydrates. By making these changes, the insulin resistance diet helps reduce excess blood sugar. The body then has to produce less insulin, reducing the chances that insulin resistance will occur.
The Low Carbohydrate Diet: A Cautionary Note
An insulin resistance diet is sometimes referred to as a low carbohydrate diet, but this isn't strictly true. While processed carbohydrates are reduced, the amount of complex carbohydrates (and the resulting fiber) is increased. Be certain not to confuse this type of diet with diets that completely restrict carbohydrates. More than one "low carbohydrate diet" on the market offers high fat, high protein servings with few carbohydrates. Such diets ignore long-term health in favor of quick weight loss, and should be avoided."
