Hi. I just started spironolactone a few days ago. I'm thinking I messed up though. My doctor asked me if I wanted to do 50 mg twice a day or take 100mg once a day. I asked him if it mattered either way, and he said no. So I went w/ the 100mg cuz that sounded easier. Then I got home and researched a bit and found it's supossed to be taken in divided doses for hirsutism. Does that mean it won't be effective now? Is anyone taking it once a day and still seeing some benefits. Or should I should I go back to the doctor right away and get my prescription changed?

ive only ever taken 100 in the morning. That's what my endo told me to do. My endo says that it takes 9-12 months to get to maximum result. My hair is less now,

I am also taking it once a day. I have been on it for about 1 1/2 years and i have seen a great difference. Hope this helps

Hmm, I've never heard of splitting up the dosage. I also took 100mg once a day.

i've been taking it for almost 9 months and havent seen nothing happen..the endo havent officaly said that i have PCOS..so he started me on Spiro and i dunno what its supposed to do..

I've taken a divided dose since I started. I'm on 200 mg a day, so I take 100mg in the morning, and 100mg in the evening. I don't think it really matters that badly if you want to take it divided... You don't have to get a new script, you can just split the 100 mg pill and take 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening.
