Points: 9,196.14 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 9,196.14 | another thing to worry about.... I gave myself my hcg injection this morning at 5 am. Now, I am worried I didnt do it right. It took me twice to get the medicine drawn into the syringe correctly. They told me this med was "sensitive to timing". Hopefully, me taking a couple times is no big deal and it isn't that sensitive to being drawn in a couple times. Then I gave it in my hip and am praying it went IM. I grabbed as far back as I could, but afraid it went to high. I did some research just now and it says subq may be just as good as IM for hcg. does anyone have any thoughts or similar experience(s)? If you can't tell, a nurse I am not. I dont mind giving myself a shot, but my worry over drawing it into the needle and then if it's in right place is much greater than sticking myself
Question.....if I took an OPK, when would it turn positive now that I've had the med?

But if your giving yourself IM injections I would highly recommend giving it in the thigh instead of the hip... It would be a much easier spot to get to by yourself and you don't have to worry about hitting the sciatic nerve. You could ask your clinic about it if you have to do it again. If I can give sub-Q rather than IM I do, generally it hurts less and you don't really have to landmark plus there are usually more options of where to inject in easy to reach places like the stomach and thighs. The difference between sub-q and IM is the absorbtion rate.

I took one and it was positive, so maybe it's already absorbed? That was at 9am. Hopefully I haven't thrown anything off. If anything, I may o a little later, if it isn't absorbed in time, right? Isn't it best to have an IUI before actual O? I dont know....I need to quit worrying but its so hard to do!

My Mood: Points: 3,054.86 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,054.86 | ovulation generally occurs 36-48 hours after the HCG shot, so I would guess you'd have your IUI tomorrow? or maybe even the day after?
As far as absorption rate goes: IM is definitely quicker, but it varies from person to person depending on your health and activity levels. Deciding on whether a drug is given IM or SC depends on a lot of things like irritation, time to breakdown, volume of dose, etc...
I think your fine, I know this is almost impossible to do, but try to relax and just enjoy your day. I'm impressed that you gave yourself the IM injection, I'm not sure that I could, and I've given other people lots & lots of IM's!

Points: 9,196.14 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 9,196.14 | Well, we will hope it went IM being I did it in my hip. This is where doc and nurse instructed me to do it. Anywho, my IUI is scheduled for 4pm tomorrow. (Doc said it would actually be closer to 5 by time everything is prepared, but I have to be there at 4). Last month when I ovulated with trigger, I was very uncomfortable and had lots of cramps. But I also had several follies about right size to trigger. I think this month we're looking at one. So I am wondering if I will have same discomfort. I did not hve IUI last month.
