hey...I'm oestrogen dominant but I need to find out if there are any non-BCP anti-androgens that don't contain oestrogen (the assumption by doctors being that if you've got too much testosterone then you need extra oestrogen, grr). My girlfriend is having wonderful results on her anti-androgens but then she needs the extra oestrogen, since she's transexual and needs as much oestrogen as she can get (she's also on a triple dose of BCP). I'm just so jealous...her body and facial hair is slowing down and thinning out, her spots are disappearing and she's nowhere near as snappy as she used to be...and I'm this big hairy spotty aggressive creature...
Sorry for the whingefest!

My doctor prescribed an anti-androgen called spironolactone but I haven't tried it yet. I am estrogen-dominant big time also. I am starting NPC next cycle. Other anti-androgens (usually not prescribed in Usa to women though) are flutamide, finasteride ("Propecia"), and dutasteride ("Avodart" new and not released even for men quite yet).

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

hey guineapig, I'd be interested to know how you get on with the Spiro as you're oestrogen dominant also. I'm in the UK and I got offered finasteride about three years ago, but I wanted Metformin and I was trying for a baby at the time, so I turned it down.
Prunepie, I'll go have a look on the bcp board, thanks.
*hugs* to you both.
