Smile Anticoagulant (help Please)

Hello Ladies,

I'm Not New To This Board, But I've Been Away For A Very Long Time. But I'm Back After My 5th Miscarriage That I Recently Had On 4/9/07 A Week After My Husband Left For A 6 Month Deployment. With This Loss I Have Ask The Doctor To Give Me Some More Answers, I Know That There Was More Wrong With Me With Having Had 5 Miscarriages. So They Told Me My Diabetes Wasn't Under Control And That Was It, But I Knew It Had To Be More Then This. So I Ask For More Blood Work And They Find That I Have A Lupus Anticoagulant. I Don't Have Lupus, But I Have An Antibody And Is Said To Cause Early Recurrent Miscarriages. So They Want Me To See A High Risk Obgyn. That Is My Next Step But Since Hubby Is Away For Another 3 Months Then I'm Not Ttc. I Have Controlled The Diabetes With A Weight Loss Of 35 Pounds On My Own And Metformin Hcl Er 1000mg A Day. So For The Anticoagulant They Want To Put Me On Heparin & A Low Dose Baby Aspirin. So My Current Meds Are:

1 (81mg)low Does Baby Aspirin
1000mg Of Metformin Hcl Er
1 Prenatal Vitamin A Day
Heparin (when Ttc Again)
Progesterone (if Needed)

So I'm Wondering If There Is Anyone Out There Who Has Had To Take Any Meds For The Anticoagulant?

Are Is There Anyone That Has The Lupus Anticoagluant Or Antibody?

Default Anticoagulent - antiphospholipid syndrome

Hi there
Only just joined board as needed to update my knowledge on PCOS and spotted your post so thought I ought to reply to that first since APS (which is what you've been diagnosed with) is something I know alot about.
Am sure you've been told the Lupus antibody indicates that you have Antiphospholipid Syndrome (nothing to do with Lupus). It causes recurrent miscarriage amongst other things and is becoming far more recognised globally.
The answers to your questions are:
I have APS, have had 6 miscarriages and have just had (7 weeks ago) my second child through treatment during pregnancy (first child born 2005). The international standard treatment is asprin and low molecular weight heparin (lovenox/clexane) and this increases chances of successful pregnancy from approx 20% to over 80%.
I will do my best to help you with info and support (so very sorry to hear about your losses but I hope this new additional diagnosis helps you feel more positive about the future) and I actually help run a cyberspace support group for women with APS and pregnancy.
Hope this helps you know you're not alone - I shall check back every day to see if there are specific things I can help with.
