I have suffered from anxiety for about 6 years. I was actually diagnosed with an anxiety disorder before I was diagnosed with PCOS. I would not be able to sleep at night because I knew I was going to die in my sleep. I would have these weird out of body experiences where I felt like I was floating and watching myself. I finally went to the doctor and she put me on Paxil and also gave me Klonopin which is a muscle relaxer that I could take as needed to help ease anxiety. I went off the Paxil earlier this year and I will never take it again. I never had any problems with the Paxil when I was on it, but the withdrawls when I came off it were horrible. Now I deal with my anxiety naturally. I practice some self calming exercises and I have learned to talk myself out of my panic attacks.
The anxiety you are describing is social anxiety, I think the official name is agrophobia. I would suggest you see a counselor of some sort, whether it is a psycholigist, psychiatrist, or just a counselor. Do some research on what you are feeling, I have some book titles that I can share with you if you are interested. Also, don't be afraid of drugs if you need them.
