Default anxiety attacks!

Hi!

For the past few days I have been having a fair amount of anxiety (which I am prone to and am on medication for). I just started metformin 2 1/2 weeks ago and the anxiety started last week.

However, I my AF started this past Monday - it came without the help of provera! So I am wondering if my hormones are just completely out of whack right now and will eventually calm down?? I am also wondering if I need to increase my anxiety medication (an antidepressant called imiprimine - 50 mg.). The 50 mg was working wonders up until last week.

Has anyone else had a similar experience - having to up their anxiety/depression meds. once on the metformin or glucophage XR?

I'm worried and this is just adding to my anxiety attacks!

Thanks for any input!
Sara : )

Arrow I had something similar!

I also suffer from anxiety and depression!

However with metformin you also have to watch for your bloodsugar levels. If you are not eating a balanced diet with protein and carbs. Your sugar levels can spike and then drop in a heartbeat. The symptoms of low blood sugar, is similar to that of a panic attack.

I had one about 2 weeks ago after not eating any breakfast or lunch then ate a big load of popcorn and ice cream later. After about 20 mins, I got a major cramp in my stomach, went lightheaded and clammy and my heart was pounding like a jackhammer. Once I had some regular "normal" food I felt better.

Metformin is a wonderful drug, and has helped me an awful lot. You just have to really take care of yourself while you are on it.
If your diet is not the answer!! Check with your doctor!!

I know it is a good sign that your period came without Provera, congratulations on that!! Means that things are working better for you down there.

Let me know how you make out!!
