Default anxiety symptoms increasing each month for pms

hi, i've been diagnosed with pcos since 1983. for 20yrs i took birth control pills and aldactone for treatment. i was not successful in terms of metformin for weight loss due to allergic reaction, actually non of the sugar pills helped.
since 2005 i stopped taking birth controls and by miracle of God i've been getting my periods as a normal person every month like clock work. i get pms symptoms like i should have during my 20's and 30's. now i'm 40's with my period and with many pms symptoms, headache, back pain, fatigue, mood swings, etc. as soon as my period arrives, i'm good.
i've been taking a number of natural herbs and vitamins to help with my cycle and most of all the hair loss and mood swings.
i'm happy to say the biotin has been awesome for the hair
the trouble i'm having is mood swings and recently anxiety.
i've noticed that the past 3-5 months no other pms symptom but anxiety with depression has been occurring and getting worse.
the worse part is that i'm a nurse and with the stress level and the pms anxiety symptom is not a good combo and basically i'm chewing people's heads off and just not a nice person. this week was the worse i ever seen it.
as soon as i started bleeding with my period i was calm and i'm not depressed or anything.
i did have to take a small dosage of valium to help me through the day at work(i work 12hrs shifts)
my question is, is there any remedy naturally for the axiety.
i refuse to take antidepressants. i just need something for the week of my pms symptoms.
the other key point is that i do exercise regularly and i was able to loose 45lbs last yr so in that aspect i'm good.
i need to work and right now nursing is what i do so i have to be able to work without chewing people's heads off.
if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate.
i did order some stress tabs from vitacost also i've been on natural progesterone and i take chasteberry, l-carnitine, dong kai every now and then and pms relief pills sometimes help but don't know why anxiety is getting worse.

sorry for the long story
thanks for your input

Hi
I am a fellow anxiety sufferer. I am now on anti-depressants, but am keen to try coming off them once I lose some weight and my hormones hopefully settle down a bit.

In answer to your question, St Johns Wort is supposed to be good for Anxiety & Depression. In addition, yoga and meditation. I found yoga and meditation particularly good, but did not have success with the St Johns Wort. Having said that I have spoken to others who have had success with it.

I know its cliche, but counselling is also really good as it gets things off your chest and allows you to look at things from a different perspective. Hope this helps.

hi, thanks for your response.
good luck with getting off the antidepressants.i know i don't wanna take them that's for sure.
i just sent for some stress tabs from vitacost and some pms relief pills(which i had taken and i think they had worked but i ran out and didn't get a chance to renew and i guess the anxiety symptoms increased for these past few months).
as soon as i see how these pills work i will share with you and everyone on this site.
thanks
