Hi Hellypep! Welcome to SC! The site is full of great info and lots of friendly people. We're all here to offer support in any way that we can. I've had both an abdominal ultrasound and a transvaginal ultrasound many times over. The abdominal/pelvic ultrasound is a piece of cake. They will squirt warmed water-based lubricant (such as KY jelly) over your lower abdomin. Then they will roll over the area with an ultrasonic probe. Takes about 20 minutes. The most uncomfortable thing about the abd/pelvic ultrasound is that you have to have a full bladder when they perform the procedure. The ultrasound probe uses your full bladder as a "window" to see (send ultrasonic signals through) your ovaries and other areas. As soon as that portion of the ultrasound is finished, they will let you void your urine and then they will continue with the transvaginal portion. The transvaginal is a bit more uncomfortable because they insert the ultrasonic probe into your vaginal canal. An ultrasound is painless and you lie on the exam table in a darkened room for the whole procedure. I know you'll do just fine! Keep us posted and let us know how you're doing. ((hugs))
