I started acupuncture in July for TTC and right after my first session I got my BFP. So of course I thought acupuncture was the best thing in the world and continued my sessions!
Unfortunately, last week I suffered a miscarriage. I'm getting back on the "acupuncture horse" in hopes of healing to TTC again soon.

As you know from the April Mom's thread, we got our bfp at around the same time. I continued with the acu and plan on keeping with it every 7-10 days during the first trimester. Glad to have you join us. This isn't a busy thread, but we all chime in to let each other know how our appts are going and get feedback on things.

My Mood: Points: 10,811.40 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 10,811.40 | Hi Jen, I'm definitely trying to stay as positive as I can during this time. 3 months just sounds like an incredibly long time to wait to start trying again. But, I want to use this time to take off a few extra pounds and get in better shape which I was also in the process of doing when I got my BFP. My acupuncturist also works in conjunction with a nutritionist and I turned my entire diet upside down which had great effects on my energy and overall health.
When I got my BFP, the acupuncturist did different points to try to minimize my m/s. That time she put one in the top of my head, the insides of my wrists and I think the insides of my knees. I got incredibly dizzy during my session - felt like the room was spinning (hadn't felt that way since drinking too much in college!) - but it went away after a minute. The acupuncturist said it wasn't from the acupuncture but from the pregnancy. The m/s was better after the appt.
I go tomorrow for my first post-m/c appointment. I cancelled last week's appt while I was going through the m/c turmoil. I'm let you know what points she hits.

Points: 4,716.20 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,716.20 | mommy1 – SWEET! Thank you for sharing your protocol. That makes me feel so much better, it looks like we’re almost cycle buddies!! If all goes well with stims I’ll be doing ER around Sept. 12 th, go in for baseline u/s this week. Kerri - I wish I knew what to tell you, ugh... 2 more days, very exciting!!
mandye- that’s crazy that you mention Dex, I just discovered that drug in this past month. I had been on this board for 2 years and never heard of it until now. I found it lowered my testosterone but for some reason my RE won’t let me continue taking it (he feels it will interfere with IVF), so now working with my regular endocrinologist. It’s funny how resistant my doctors are to the notion that my excess testosterone could be a result of both tradional PCOS (ovaries) AND my adrenal gland. It makes perfect sense to me! Oh well, what can you do but keep trying.
greenthumb – that is interesting about the 100 days theory. May I ask what does TCM stand for? I kind of feel like I’m on this IVF train now (less than 30 days out now), too late to back it up… if this round of IVF doesn’t take, I’ll test that out. That makes sense about the blood flow, it’s all so different I wasn’t expecting everyone to have such different protocols, you know what I mean … I thought acu would be approached about the same with everyone but it isn’t. My acu didn’t mention anything about lower back on the 2 nd ½ of the cycle, I’ll be sure to bring it up this week. And Kerri’s (previous post) acu said 1X week, when mine is pressuring for 2-3X week.
The irony of it is I’ve also found RE’s all seem to have different protocols too! It is such a BIG DEAL that soulcysters is here to help us share our experiences. Can you imagine if we didn’t, it would take so much longer to sort through all of this on our own…. PCOS is hard enough!!
Wow this board moves fast, hello to everyone and sorry if I missed you... thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the subject.

well, today ended my 2WW with a BFN. AF made her apperance. I kinda knew it was coming. Everyone told me to be positive, but you just kinda know when you're getting it. tomorrow will be considered day 1 and we are back on the IUI horse. My next acu. appt is thursday. I know she will be disappointed, but i know we'll make it.
DH and I have decided that if this next IUI doesn't work for us, then we will be moving to IVF. It comes down to $$$. If this next IUI doesn't work out for us, we'll be out several thousand dollars and if we continue we'd be closer to our IVF. fingers crossed it doesn't come down to that, but we are prepared for anything.

SFCyster - Welcome to the thread! I'd love to hear yours and everyone else's experiences with acup so please keep us posted!
I'm on my third week of drinking the teas my acupuncurist prescribed me. As I stated before they are a PCOS formula. They are really bitter tasting but I hold my nose and just drink it down...LOL! She was telling me at my last appt that another of her patients is PCOS and has been on the teas for 2 cycles and the woman had called her last week to tell her she got AF for the first time on her own since going off the pill. That is very encouraging to me! I think the combination of acup and the herbs will work. I'm going to try and get a list from her of the herbs contained in the teas this week.

My Mood: Points: 1,694.88 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,694.88 | Hey everyone,
Sorry to hear about AF coming Kerri Fingers x next month is the month! Just think, the chances for success increase each cycle and the acupuncture would be slowly helping things too.
Well i just came on here to post my first acupuncture session experience. The lady was lovely (chinese) and made me feel comfortable. We went through some of my symptoms and she told me i was kidney yang deficient! Lol i have no idea what that means other than 'im too cold'
So she started with the acupuncture, one in each hand between the thumb and hand, two on each side of my belly, below my belly button. one on either side of my legs below the knee and one inside the ankle of each foot. The needles didnt hurt at all when they first went in but when she pressed them in further to the spot they needed to go it was like a jolt of electricity! She left me for a bit and my body kind of twitched a bit (dont know whether it was from the nerves or from the needles) very strange! I could kind of feel energy in my abdomen area which felt good. When the session was finished she gave me two herbal formulas, 1. xiao yao san and 2. zi shen zan yu dan. I take 15 of each 2 x per day, so 60 tablets each day! But they are small and easy to swallow and the outside has a kind of sweet flavour. Straight after the session i felt really good and a little 'spacey'. Then i went home and got a headache and felt really tired. I think some toxins must have been released...did any one else get that? Nothing much else to report, i feel good in general and nothing much out of the ordinary. I suspect it will take a few sessions till i notice anything significant. Next appointment is Tuesday. Hope everyone has a good week
Cimone

My Mood: Points: 10,811.40 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 10,811.40 | I just got back from my first post-m/c acupuncture appt. I really like my acupuncturist - it's part therapy, part nutrition counseling and part acupuncture. We discussed how I need to grieve and also be able to let go so that I'm not keeping in any of the negative feelings about the m/c bottled up for when we try again.
She hit the grief/trauma points and I listened to a grief meditation CD. Surprisingly I was able to relax, but for whatever reason I had a hard time focusing and keeping my mind on the CD.
I definitely think this will all help in the healing process and helping me ready myself to try again when my body is ready.
