This is my second day on Metformin and Aldactone. The nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, dizziness, etc. - all have started with a vengance. Are there any foods that I should avoid? I have to take it morning and evening so I can't change my dosing schedule to try to lessen the symptoms.
I am on 2000mg/day and take 1 1,000mg in am and 1 in pm. (after breakfast and then after dinner) I have found eating a lot of fiber makes me run not long after it. IE-i eat a HUGE salad for lunch. And i have gotten good at making sure i can easily {{{{run run run}}}} to the bathroom in like 1-2 hrs. I notice eating higher carb foods also have a "fiber" effect. When i know i'm going on a long car ride-the nearest mall or walmart is 1 1/2 hrs away and we try and go once a mth. so i will skip salad or LOTS of veggies for lunch . The amount of veggies it takes to "loosen me up" is a lot more then a salad. I have been getting sick to my stomach for awhile and i have found tums works good. They say you can take it w/ milk and that will help keep your stomach settled...but don't EVER take it on an empty stomach -i did that one time-ouch. i had started on glucaphoge but what SOOO sick my endo switched it to metformin. (it has some sort of coating on it that helps).

switching to extended release helped me alot! I take 1500mg and i take it at bedtime. when i first started taking met in nov, salads or sugary foods sent me runnin to the potty every few seconds so i recommend staying away from those for a while.
