mystery78...blastocyst transfer is when they wait for the fifth day after egg retrieval to transfer...its supposed to be the natural time your egg implants into the uterus...normally the egg is in the fallopian tube until then...and you have to have alot of eggs...not all make it to day 5...but it makes it easier to pick the healthiest and least likely to miscarry embryo because doc can choose...and the success rates are way higher...

kyrie...so sorry about your bfn...

positive...i heard ivm is in vitro maturation...where they can take eggs that are immature out and then grow them in the lab to maturity...keep me posted...

chitchat..thanks! i think its the heat, rain, and/or food...water...etc...its always a hard time to come during the summer...

I go in today for my transfer..i. have no idea how many embies or anything..doc said he will show me when i get there...am a bit nervous...but i have been waiting for this day for a very long time...i will post an update later...

later ladies!

kyrie...I am sooo sorry for your BFN.......have faith and keep trying..!!

mystry...all the very best to you with this round of IUI...hope this cycle works for you...!!
well in my case I have never taken metformin...actually in my case the male factor is also there...DH was diagnosed with low count and motility...so the doctor said there is no point putting me on any medicine..and they straight away recommended for IVF...though I still feel that some medicines or IUI should have been tried first...anyways I will be seeing a new RE this monday so will come to know about any other option..actually I am scared to do another IVF...as OHSS in my case was life threatning.....

and if you are concerned about the weight gain..then I think proper diet and exercise can sure make a difference...I always try to follow whatever I can...!!

Hi Chitchat, I am sorry to hear you had to go through worse symptoms of OHSS. The OHSS can be prevented during IVF by careful monitoring by the doctors. Let us know what your doctor says about that.

Hi Anjali,

Just what you need at this time a dose of Grandma's love. I know bedrest can be boring, but don't be jealous dear, take the opportunity to relax, rest and be pampered .. Now is the time to have everyone on your beck and call .

I am still trying to bounce back from the failed IVF cycle. trying to figure out my next move .. its very disheartening to hear from ur doc that you can never become a mom with ur own eggs . With all the research and learning I have done during this IVF phase, I think i can be awarded an honorary doctorate degree .

You take good care of yourself and keep us posted. My prayers are with you

hey Anjali...

that is greaatt news...and also that they will be freezing the rest of them...congrattss...

wishing you all the success and loads of sticky vibes your way...!!

ya this 2ww wait is really longer then 2weeks..lol...but with your gramdma and family around it will be for sure easier...with all that gossiping and also their prayers and wishes will help you....

thanks hoping...

ya thats true..OHSS can be prevented by careful monitoring and for sometime I was cursing my doctors for unable to do so...but now I think that it was my first cycle and they must not have thought that it could be so severe...and as now I have also got a honorary doctorate with specialisation in OHSS..LOL....I am all ready for another cycle as I know about all the medicines that should not be given, techniques, timing of trigger etc. etc...but my DH is not fully convinced...for he is too afraid...as I was in ICU for one night (short of breath) and would not have been sitting here typing this message..LOL...

so lets see what the new doctor says and how much promising that sounds...i will for sure keep you updated....

what about you..?? have you taken second opinion? or have you found some research regarding improving the egg quality or chances of success with the present status?
Also have you taken online second opinion of Dr. malpani..??

Hi Chitchat,

I can only imagine how frightening it would have been for you and your hubby. I also had OHSS but not as severe as yours. But I could have killed my doctor for not warning me about the symptoms and what to do to prevent OHSS .

I couldn't find anything concrete for improving the egg quality issue. I did find all the supplements people are taking to improve the egg quality but couldn't find any scientific studies/data to back them. However, I do have a consult with Dr Sher and he always mentions in his blog that protocol can help with the egg quality issues .. keeping my fingers crossed.

I would be setting up consult with the Indian doctors as well. I am hoping that they would have some protocol for me as they do deal with lot of PCOS cases. I have so far short listed the following docs, will really appreciate any inputs I can get about them..
1) Firoza Parekh - Jaslok Clinic - Mumbai
2) Indira Hinduja - Inkus IVF Centre - Mubai
3) Malpani Infertility Clinic - Mumbai
4) Mother & Child Hospital - Delhi

Hey Hoping..

ya true...the doctors had told initially that upto 5% women get OHSS and .01% get the severe form...and I remember that once my hubby asked a doctor that why it happened to us..and doctor said somebody has to be there in .01% as well...quite annoying but true......before the treatment I had read a lot about OHSS so atleast at every step I knew that what was happening and when it was mild to moderate to severe...and instead of doctors telling me, I was telling them.....so its always good to be updated...in my case they had used buserelin and menopur...so only option with this protocol is to trigger with HCG...and that is the culprit for OHSS..I still don't know that why in UK they are not using other protocols like Lupron etc..will find out in the next meeting with RE?...and what protocols you used with your cycles? and were the medications same in the one you got OHSS and with other cycles?

I hope you find a good and promising option for you...
the clinics you have mentioned and about Dr Sher....I have heard about them and they all have positive reviews...(heard through indiaparenting site and I think you are already there ....

Now regarding the personal experiences..we have Anjali in Malpani and I have also taken second opinion online and doctors seem to be efficient...I don't know much about other experiences of mumbai clinics...

Regarding Delhi...I am planning to go back within two-three months if nothing works here...so have started gathering info...one of my cousin sister-in-laws has seen number of doctors so will update you about any info I will get...ya regarding Gangaram hospital(somebody recommended) but I will not recommend based on my personal experience and my sister-in-law's experience...
mother and child seems to have good reviews..will find out..

Hi Chitchat,

I was on Lupron + Follistim protocol when I had the OHSS. The reason was the high dosage, luckily for me the OHSS was not that severe and was controlled by being on the OHSS diet i.e no water and gatorade etc.

I will give you guys posted about the consults.

Have learned by now to research research and research .
