Any BCP'S safe to use for those with clotting disorders?
I am wanting to go on the pill but I have Antiphosphilopid Syndrome.
I do not want an IUD and dh does not want to use condoms. Aside from abstinence, I would really like to start some type of bcp's. Are there any of you here with some type of clotting issues that are using bcp's and if so, whay type?
Thanks!

I am compound heterozygote for MTHFR. My doctor has stated that I cannot use any type of medications, BCP's included, that contain estrogen. I never asked him, but I wonder if the progesterone only pill would be ok? I am pretty sure that progesterone does not affect clotting disorders. Hope this helps!

And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:3-4
I think the Mini-Pill has only progesterone since it's safe during breastfeeding. That said, it seems like quite a risk to take a bcp when you have a clotting disorder. Why not a diaphragm? Or even the sponge, if you'd like something that can be tossed afterward. If you're done having kids (you didn't state so I could be way off, if I am sorry, lol) you could always send ur DH for a vasectomy. It's quick to heal and cost effective.

I had an IUD removed almost 2 years ago because we were going to start again. We are on a break, maybe (not sure yet) a permanent one.
Right now it's not a good time.
I never thought about a diaphram. I will brings these up to my Dr and see what he thinks.
Thanks for the replies
