I'm never sure what "evangelical" means....my husband is an independent Baptist pastor. We also have three children and homeschool. If you'd like to chat, feel free to pm me

My Mood: Points: 22,469.43 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 22,469.43 | Isn't evangelical a term that the mainstream media assigns those of us (that they don't understand) who call ourselves christians, believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and should be taken literally?
Is there actually a group of people who call themselves evangelical? I believe Mark 16:15-16 applies to all christians including me personally. If that's what it takes, I am evangelical. If I have to fall in step with Billy Graham, James Dobson or Pat Robertson, then I am not.
Sorry about the tirade. Can you tell that word pushes my hot button. I would be glad to help you in anyway I can. It's always wonderful to find women who share the same values since so many around me seem to believe they are free to do whatever gives them pleasure.

Just had to figure out what I was volunteering for before I agreed to be one hehe

Sorry for the confusion, I guess I never knew the term was so undefined, LOL! I have been an evangelical (which for me means a Christian who relies solely on the infallible Word of God and attends a Bible based/teaching church) for over ten years. Just recently it seems like the media has been using the term as an ugly word. But I guess that is to be expected!
Glad to see others online here!
Fondly,
Angel |

Religious
Christian
Fundamentalist
Evangelical
Conservative
The list goes on and on. Most people don't even know what Baptists believe because they think Fred Phelps (sp?) is an actual Baptist.

Just had to figure out what I was volunteering for before I agreed to be one hehe | I know this may sound silly, but if that is the definition of evangelical Christian, is there such a thing as a Christian who isn't evangelical. I thought those things were the things that made us Christian in the first place...
