Post Any good doctors in OH/KY/WV area??

I've been treated locally by an OB/GYN here, but would like to see someone who knows a little bit more about PCOS and its doings. My OB/GYN is more like "oh, you've got PCOS" and that's it. I've got to do all the research and work and then I'm thinking what am I paying him for? I live in Southeast Ohio, about 2-1/2 hours from Columbus, OH or 3 hours from Cincinnati, OH area, but I'm willing to drive. I also live 2 hours away from Lexington or Louisville KY and would be willing to drive there also or to Charleston WV. I'm open to ANY suggestions! I just want to sit down with someone who does this (PCOS) as one of their main specialities, so I can be more informed and feel more treated! Thanks in advance for any help!

P.S. I've found a few listings for doctors, but didn't know if anyone could recommend anyone personally that they or a love one or friend have been to! :-)

I don't know how far you are from Toledo, but my beloved endocrinologist is leaving my area to lead the Endocrinology Program at the Medical College of Ohio. He's probably in transition right now, but you should be able to find him there within a few weeks. He will be teaching and running the program half-time, but will also be seeing patients half-time.

His name is Dr. Gregory Tennyson. He diagnosed my PCOS, and I have found him to be up-to-date on the latest research and always willing to listen and give feedback on the research I've done. He believes that all PCOSers are insulin resistant by definition, and puts them all on Glucophage. My starting dose was 1500 mg, but he was not hesitant to move me up to 2000 mg when I asked him about it. I have heard people say that he's not exactly the "warm and fuzzy" type, but we always got along swimmingly, and I found him to be plenty warm enough.

Good luck, and please let me know if you do end up seeing him! I'm thinking of making the 2.5 hour trip to Toledo to see him once a year myself.

I go to a doctor in Charleston, WV, at the WVU Physicians Center in Womens and Childrens Hospital. They just in the past 6 months have gotten a Reproductive Endocrinology Specialist. I have been to see him once and I have already been put on Glucophage and prenatal vitamins. His name is Dr. Chauhan. (I can't quite remember his first name) The phone number for the office is 304-388-1515. Hope this helps!
