Edmond Confino is my RE Doc.... it will take a few months to get in to see him. I am seeing him as a doctor for the first time next week, but I have worked with him for almost 7 years now. His result percentages are great and he is just a super sweet, wonderful man. He has been trying to get me pregnant since before I was even married. His office number is 1(312)695-2694.
My regular Doc is a woman named Courteney Noble... also part of Northwestern. Her office is called Lakeshore Medical.
She called me at home to ask for my pharmacy number to start metformin after seeing my clinical symptoms, elevated fasting blood sugar, and ultrasound results. I believe her comment was "I'd like to start you on metformin like yesterday." She spent an hour in the office with me when I first saw her for a physical. I have never had any doctor spend so much time with me.
Her office number is 1(312)926-6000.
Since my OB is not accepting new patients, I would suggest Dr. Erin King. She is with a group called Progressive Center for Women.
That office number is 1(312)573-3700.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions... especially about the Docs at Northwestern, please feel free to send me an email. mandymt72@yahoo.com
Best of luck!
Mandy

thanks!! is courteney a GP then? not sure if i should see an RE and OB right now since i'm not TTC.. or what .. i'm already on met but i guess it would be good to have a GP that's aware of PCOS as well? just trying to figure out what team i need exactly.. without having like 2 or 3 diff schools of thought working with me. do you find all of your docs have the same input?

Dr. Noble is a GP... and my OB is aware of the metformin and I don't see her until May anyway. I am not sure yet what Dr. Confino(RE) is going to say about the Met as I don't see him until next week. Here's how I am looking at it though... it's my health/fertility, and from what I have read, everything seems to say that combining Met and Clomid only increases fertility chances so I figure why not. On top of that, since my fasting blood sugar was high, the Met can only help to control that. I love the way I try to justify things.
I will let you know if Dr. Confino says to stop the Met or not.
By the way, it's good to have someone else in the area on here... and someone who is also trying to lose weight. I am down 18 lbs since Jan 6th.
Have a good evening!
Mandy

I just moved to Chicago. I go to Dr. Julian Archie. He is located in Oak Park, IL in the Western Suburbs of Chicago He is affiliated with Rush hospital. The practice is called Partners in Women's Health. I had never been to a man ObGYn before but he has excellent bedside manner. He actually tested me for PCOS unlike my previous doctors who just agreed with me when I told them I had it. I have only seen him once for an IUD insertion but he had my blood drawn that day to test my testerone and sent my to get a transvaginal ultrasound to see if I had any cysts on my ovaries. I am going back Tuesday to discuss medication and endocrinology with him. I really like him and he well versed in PCOS. His nurses are very helpful and they call back when they say the will. The service is excellent!

Mandy - do you recommend any of the other docs in that RE practice? Do you know anything about Dr. Dunaif (regular endo)? I have an appt. with her but it's not until Oct. I am thinking of cancelling and going to an RE instead, but will it take until Oct to get in there?
